Title: Hull Repair (Bug?)
Post by: Vek-Nor on June 13, 2003, 03:54:47 pm
Hi, long time since my last entry in this forum...

Well... you probaly know that already, I am sure. Kinda BUG REPORT (?). I just want my conscience to be clean!

WHY WOULD SOMEONE PAY BIG BUCKS FOR HULL REPAIR IF THEY CAN GET IT REPAIRED FOR FREE?

Yeah, there is a way, and this is probably a BUG. I guess most of you know how to get your hull repaired for free.

Is this issue in the list of bug-fixes for the next (last) patch?

Thx

But it also create a problem for people running mods. The only way you can increase a ship's cost is by increasing the hull cost in the defaultcore.txt. Problems is that your repair cost is also derived from the hull cost. If you increase the hull cost of a cube to 40K it would cost you 20K to repair a 50% hull. The only way around it is either free repair or dramatically reduce the Repair cost multiplier in the econ file but it would still benefit the player using a ship with the stock hull cost.

I'm running the game in it's newest version (1.01 (2?) build 500 I guess - not sure) and it hasn't been fixed (not in my game!).

Well, I'm gonna tell you what I did, hoping this won't start unaware users to cheat in the Dynaverse (does this work there too?) - I just traded my armor for another of the same class before I repaired my hull - done. No hull repair is required then. No prestige cost. Simple.

The game should tell you that it is necessary to repair your hull in order to buy a new armor. Am I right?
