Hi all, I recently bought SFC II: EAW. (I know, I'm behind the times, so sue me, lol) However, when i try to start it uo, it crashes to desktop after all the intro sequences. I have XP Home, and a nice up-to-date system, any suggestions? BTW, i have a Radeon 9700 TX. I tried putting it in my DVD Drive, and my CD-RW, and doesent help.
Thanks!

Is it crashing when you try and start the install? Or afterwards when you try and play the game?
If the latter then a lot of people have problems with the intro movies. To skip them change the starting program to starfleet2.exe in the icons properties.

As a sidenote to this, I discovered that the Earthlink TotalAccess 2003 taskbar has something that causes SFC 2 to crash every time you try to load it. That might sound a bit funny, but I'm sure it's that- it doesn't crash when I use the Windows standard dial-up.

Thanks guys! However, i figured it out just now. I changed the settings to not use my Radeon 9700 card, I guess SFC doesent like it.
HOWEVER, now i have another problem. It doesent recognize my CD key. I typed it in and it just says "Sorry, invalid key" or something to that effect. The key is just on a sticker on the front of the CD case, i wonder if its not for a different game? Is there any way around the cd key? Anything else i can do? Can you at least tell me if this is in the right format? It's like this N=Number C=Character "NNNN-CCCC-NCNN-NCNN"
Please help!

That seems like the Orion Pirates sequence. My EAW sequence goes CCCN-CCCN-CCCN-CCCN-NNNN. There's an extra four characters. I think I remember reading somewhere here that newer EAW's shipped with an Orion Pirates key. Not too sure what you should do, though. Perhaps somebody here knows?

Sadly but not at all surprisingly you are a victim of the OP key on the EAW CD mistake. Others say that all you have to do is contact Interplay and they will organise a new key for you.

thats fun......op cd key on eaw game case lol
-
Arg! What an annoyance. Well thanks guys, i guess I'll try and get a hold of Interplay. Here's to hoping for a quick response. (yeah right)

an email should get you a new key in 24 hours or less. Bummer, but at least there is a fix

It's been a little while since I did this, but I had the same problem. Here's what you do.
go to the interplay site
go to the A-Z support pages
choose sfc 2 from the pull down menu
go to the bottom click on the tiny type for contacting support directly
fill out the form chooing sfc2 as game title
specify a cd key issue, tell them you got a OP cd key instead of EAW key
explain the situation in the text box provided
tell them what the key is
click submit
they should get back to you within the week.

YES!! Thanks Lepton, and everybody esle too!! They already replied with a new CDKey!

BTW, is there still any action on DynaVerse II?
