Well, I finally decided to try a non-fed ship. Since I'm currently concentrating on pre-TOS, I decided to do the D-5...the 1st Klingon pre-TOS ship that was on the same technological level as its Romulan and Federation counterparts.
So far, I have spent about 3 hours on the mesh, and I'm feeling pretty good about it. I am going by the 4 view pic at SF Museum...hopefully I wont have any bad feedback, but, all is welcome. I want this to be a good model, so suggestions and advice is needed and welcome. One question: when I start texturing, should I use a dark green color, like current Klingon vessels, or go with the grey portrayed in the SF Museum pic?
She comes out at a little under 1200 polys...plenty small for most, I believe.
Anyway, here are a couple of shots of what I have so far:

Looking good.
I think the grey textures would look better unless anyone was seriously interested in the new ones.

Looking Good. I was thinking how about both green and grey. You could make the green ones and then grey scale it for the grey ones.

bump now the forums back

Nicely done. Perhaps a little more shape for the warp nacelles. If you feel inspired you might take a shot at making a SFB D5. To my knowledge the only existing mesh is the Taldren KCL which is a little lame. It's been retextured a few times by KF and myself but a proper D5 is sorely needed.
Have you seen Anduril's D5? Really nice.

Dude you make we want to go back to texturing my D2! Now where did I put it?????
-
Well, did a little texturing on her...went with the mean green scheme.
Looks nice so far...and yes, I'm thinking about doing her in gray too. I just can't seem to find a reasonable explanation why they would change from gray to green. I figure it's all artist conception, so my take on it is green.
Here's a couple of shots:

Well done!
I'm not much of a fan of Pre-Tos but this little ship grows on me everytime I see it.
Qapla!

Very nice....can't wait to see more!

Here's a few more shots...got a little more done, figured out how to keep from straining the old eyes: less time working at once.
That's been one of my problems, straining my eyes working on these things for hours at a time. Now I do a little at a time, but it pays off by not requiring weeks off the puter.
Anyway, like I said, got a little more done, looking nice so far. What do ya' think?

Have to work today, so not much will get done until tonight. Just wanted to bump this back to page uno.
