well there it is . for the love of warp drive HELP !

Try setting your desktop to 16 bit color mode prior
to play.
If that doesn't help, you should post your system
specs.
Thanks,
Dave

Still doesnt work , and what specific system specs ? oh and it did work once ,but had to go to some really horrid vid mode . and i cant remember how it did it ,
-
Make and model of your CPU, video and sound card make and specs, OS etc, etc...
Also, try updating to your latest drivers from the manufacturer of your cards.
-
Operating System: Windows Me (4.90, Build 3000)
Processor: Intel Celeron, ~700MHz
Memory: 190MB RAM
Hard Drive: 7112 MB Space Available, 29291 MB Space On Drive
Video Card: Intel(r) 82810 Graphics Controller 4.12.01.2576
Monitor: HP Pavilion 15 inch Display
Display Info: 1024 x 768 (16 bit)(optimal refresh rate)
Pointing Device: Mouse
Sound Card: Crystal WDM Audio
And all drivers are updated .
-
What video card do you have?
Go to start then run and type in dxdiag to see if everything is all right. Try updating to DX9 might fix some things.
-
every thing is running correctly , and i have dx9
-
You're computer is simply not powerful enough to run the game. Activision lied about the sytem requirements. If you bought another stick of RAM, went into your CMOS and increase your vidio to memory to 32MB, it might run. I had the same problem, but the game just doesn't intrist me, so I simply wiped it from my HD.
-
well crap , i have my slots of RAM all full -.- , i must buy bigger ram !
-
Did you download either the beta patch or the DX9 patch?
With DX9 installed, you will have to have one or the other.
Thanks,
Dave

Could you post a DXdiag...or at least the drivers for your Intel integrated card?
Intel integrated is good enough to run it, however, if you have DX9, you may have some problems. The Integrated card MIGHT have some problems later in the game I would imagine, as your processor is only a 700 mhz (enough to run the game, but not very well). You said that you had it set to a funky configuration? With Intel Integrated Chips that's not a good thing...AND if it's not a DX problem...could be at the heart of the matter. I would suggest a complete reinstall of the OS with an Update of the bios for your Intel Chip drivers as well...if possible (If I recall, they do update them, however, updating an Integrated chip is a major...you know what).
Next thing to check...once again, referring to the conflicts with your Graphics...make sure there aren't any conflicts in drivers and programs. Do the movies run. Test it out with the Bink Player. If the movies are not running, try running the game with the movies disabled, and see if the game starts up that way.
Good luck. I've run the game on a system almost EXACTLY like the one you are running it on (except it only had 128 RAM at the time). I don't do the internet or use it with the mods or patches though, it has a hard enough time running otherwise. Make sure the screen IS at 16 bit though, just second check that it hasn't reset. I think that would be defined as High Color on the Integrated chips as opposed to True Color which is 24 bit (but I think it is 32 bit on the ATI I'm on right now, checking to make sure and you know what...as opposed to the other machine with ME...this one doesn't let me check the resolution by right clicking on the screen, I actually have to go to properties for that...hmm, I'll have to check that one out, maybe it's something to do with XP that changed from the 98/ME system of doing things).
I have ME on the machine I'm running to, so I think you'll have to have a DXdiag so I can compare and contrast the differences between them (what's different on your system as opposed to the one I have). No guarantees that I can figure it out though, the biggest problem I've had has been slow down in the game on that machine.
I typically play on one of the other machines though, simply because I love playing with the mods (can one say more ships...and even the Constellation Class!).

If I was to pick on anything, I'd say it was the processor. The minimum is listed as a P3 450, or an Athlon 450. The Celeron is a step down from a P3, combine that with the fact you have onboard graphics using up some of your memory, and I'd say you may not meet the minimum system requirements. Although I have heard of players getting it to work on less, the onboard graphics may be the one thing stopping you from playing.

Processor is fine. I play on a machine that has exactly the same specs (but only 128 RAM) and it works fine up until you get around 25000 to 45000 prestige...at which point I have hit massive slowdown.
On the otherhand, I also play on faster more up to date machines where I install the TNZ and DOM mods to my great delight.
-
I have to say that the game itself is much improved after the additition of some more memory, i was running 128 but upgraded Thursday to 384, and the game doesnt lag anymore when a mine is dropped (the TNZ mod did wonders for the lag when a shuttle was deployed)
