Title: Direct X 9.0b Is it Safe?
Post by: korus on July 25, 2003, 07:19:42 pm
With the latest release of Direct X, I was wondering would it be safe to upgrade to.  And would it interfere with the patch currently out?  Or should I stick with 9.0  for now? Thanks!

Don't know yet myself. I'll be DLing it later tonight though along with a new vid driver. Between the 2 of them something should get screwed up. I'll be sure to let you know

Been using DX9.0b now for the past couple days with the 25410 and 2541x with absolutely no probs at all.

Go ahead an upgrade because, imh-but-simple-o, the problem it fixes is a critical fix indeed.

Best,
Jerry

9.0b is a security update.  Why in the world would someone avoid a security update?  Paranoia can be such that it prevents you from taking rational actions to protect yourself I guess.

I've installed 9.0b and all is well. Evidently it's a bit more than a security update, as this excerpt from the DL page states. Maybe it'll help with some MP problems?

This release also resolves an issue with DirectX 9.0 where some multiplayer games or MSN Messenger may not work correctly. A number of minor bugs were also resolved.
