Title: OP ECM affect on Plasmas and Drones
Post by: Mantis on August 13, 2003, 12:56:11 pm
Does ECM affect Plasma and Drones? If so, how does the shift work? Also, does EM affect them through its ECM generation?

ecm doesent effect drones (as far as i know).the yre a seeking weapon.....plasma is special,it comes with a natural ecm breaker (3 ecm bonus?),thats why some try 6 ecm and erratics to minimize damage.
u will see the effect in nebulas best....just fire a f or g  plasma at a known range..u ll see,it makes little damage compared to normal space.

In singleplayer, yes.

In multiplayer, no.

Why? I don't know.

Here's the "Proximity of Detonation" chart

Add ECM shift to 1d6
Roll: Effect on warhead
1: None (does full damage)
2: None
3: None
4: None
5: None
6: None
7-8: Half damage
9: Quarter damage

As you can see, this is not a good way to defend against seekers. More speed would be a better idea. Starbases might as well give it a try, since they can't move.
