The defense shift, etc. of EAW was pretty clear, but what does EM do in SFC3? I have used it a good deal and have not really noticed a significant difference in hits and/or damage. Anyone done a statistical analysis?

Oh, sorry, I thought you said erotic maneuvers. Nevermind.

LOL! Good one!
Maybe they should add a brass pole and some music.
The only thing I see it doing is wasting power and making your ship look funny.
-
Actually, when the ship oscillates like it does when EM is pushed, I guess it is sort of, er, erotic...........
-
I tried to fill my warp core with beer but i had to eject it and my engineer officer died in the process.

So i only use erratics maneuvers to shake my martinis in the rest room.
Seriously, i think EM are "almost" useless. It is much more important AV. I´ll apreciate every data you can give me.

It will make your weapons miss even more often(if you can believe that) than they already do.

Ya gotta love the irony

Once apon a time, dropping the ECM of SFCII was defended by saying that it was too complex for players to calculate the effects ECM/ECCM on the game. (Addition... Subtraction... Square root... range bracket... damage chart...)
In it's place, we get to factor AV, EM, ship size, & crew quality into the players decision to fire or wait for a better shot.

What I really think we need is a vocal message screaming at us by the first officer that yells "FIRE NOW! FIRE NOW!" endlessly like the border alert does.

Furthermore, in SFCII, we have the exact numbers about how each of this is calculated. in SFCIII, well...
BTW Corbomite, that was funny!!! and I hope Taldren actually implement this~!

If a ship uses EM in SFC3 then it suffers a self-imposed -33% penalty to hit with all its weapons (except mines of course). The defensive benefit of EM in SFC3 is unknown, though I'd bet that it is straight from SFB, as a "+2 shift" (i.e. -33% to be hit). Note that EM takes no energy to use in SFC3. There's no reason to not use EM as much as possible, IMO.
Apparently, Taldren thinks the general public is better off being ignorant of essential game mechanics such as EM.
Ignorance = bliss?
Perhaps...
Frankly, I don't care anymore. Those who wish to educate themselves must gather some in-game statistics. I wouldn't count on Taldren to provide any technical info beyond the paltry amount thus far released.

ROFL

The 33% reduction on "to hit" when targeting under EM seems about right. But the defencive value seems to depend on ship size. Doing EM with a DN class ship seems to have very little effect.
