At 220 meters in length, the Antares Class is equally adept at patrol, supply, and short duration exploration missions. Capable of carrying a small standard cargo pod, the Antares is utilized mainly for supplying outposts in high risk areas, of the Federation.
4600 polys, a little more mesh work needs to be done. I plan to release her at my new permanent website. I will establish a temp site for my saladin/hermes DD/SC this weekend. This is a hypothetical design for the USS Antares in the TOS episode "Charlie X".
-
Oh Yeah! Bring it on Lord Schtupp...
-
That is a fine ship. Great design. Glad you'll be set up with a site soon
-
HI Lord Schtupp
Very Sweet I like it
you've caught the flavor quite well looking forward to downloading your other models and this one in the near future.
Let me know when you want that Pegasus class development logo that I created for you Its still on my
hard drive waiting for you.

-
Hey Bernard I did get that logo of the gf's machine and its on the Pegasus texture set. Thanks!
-
Very cool (as always
)
Can't wait for for the trial runs!
-
Very impressive!!! love the look of the ship, very clean and no rough edges. great work LS
-
Get's my vote!
-
Wow, that is a great looking ship! Very nice!
-
Thanks everybody, Cya on saturday!
-

-

-
DAMN that's pretty!
-
Now THERE'S a good looking TOS Starfleet frigate or police ship. It looks too cool to be a freighter!
-
Great ship as always Schtupp. Keep em rollin'
-
Great! Excellent! I like the angle on the nacelle struts, in particular. Nice, clean design. If the primary hull is the same scale as the Constitution class - and I think it should be - then the secondary hull makes this is a little larger than a scout or destroyer. I'd say it's a light cruiser designed to carry an external cargo pod.
Good stuff! The deflector dish superstructure is a good design - far better than the simple naked dish that I've seen on a lot of other TOS designs that lack a secondary hull low enough to mount the dish on front of the secondary hull. The dish might block the planetary sensor on the bottom of the primary hull, but so what? You could put one somewhere else, y'know?
Great work.
-
Almost forgot to mention two more things:
(1) - I like the thingies on the Bussards. Cool.
(2) - Are the pairs of yellowish globes on the left and right sides of the upper surface of the primary hull phasers? If so, where are the forward phasers? Is this ship torpedo-armed?
-
BUMP! for news...
-
where are you stikcing your ships now? Last I checked the ship-shack was dead.
-
Bump again. This ship is too good to slip onto the back pages.
-
Bump again.

Hi Lord Schtupp
I know that you busy getting the Phoneix Class scout ready but I was wondering what is left to do on the Antares?
(Hears Uhura singing beyond Antares in his mind)

-
Bump.
-
Sorry that ive kinda neglected this thread. I had posted this WIP at Flare:
http://flare.solareclipse.net/cgi2/ultimatebb.cgi?ubb=get_topic&f=7&t=001080#000004
and Reverend, the artist who created the 4 view drawing, saw it and sent me several previously unposted detail dwgs of her that have been most helpful. Anyway I had decided to finish my SFB connie first, then the Akula, which should be up by the weekend. Then I'll get back to work on the Antares
too many projects!
Thanks Turling and everybody.

Lol @ Uhura
Youll be the first to know on that scout BG
-
Are you going to do the rest of the SFB feds. Wouldnt mind you doing a few klingons, you would do them proud I think.
And this ship would make a good frigate or pol replacement I think.
-
I had started to build a Klink D7, the main hull is as far as I got. I decided that I want to have a complete fed fleet first. Besides there are some excellent klink models out there already, notably Atrahasis, Anduril, and SkinMan, not to mention p81 and others.
Thanks Khalee
-
YAY!!! SFB Connie, SFB Connie, SFB Connie! BTW Schtupp, have you seen the refit of the Antares, it's on the same site as the original, it's sort of like the Asia refit - halfway between TOS and TMP, any chance you may do that in the future?
BTW here's the link for those that haven't seen it:
-
Oh yea she is definatly on my list VL, but she's a little ways down there. I must complete my TOS fleet first
. The drawings are so good that its ez to build a nice ship from them. Did you see my post above? The artist who drew them is helping me out. That is so cooool....
-
That's pretty kick-ass, it's kinda be like having Matt Jeffries there to help with the Connie - though we pretty much know EVERY detail on the original Connie now.
-
The board wont let me edit my old post coz I left it so long, but I forgot to mention Schtupp, on the 4 Saladin variants without torpedoes -the 2 drone destroyers and the 2 plasma destroyers, you left the torpedoe launchers there - which seems a bit strange when they don't have any torpedoes to fire
just so I know, are you gonna leave them like that or get rid of them?
-
damn i knew that one of you guys would pick up on that. I shoulda included spec files too i suppose. I go by Chris Jones SFB shiplist file and the drone destroyer has one photon and the plasma DD has two. The hardpoints are listed in the readme file but ya your right technically, the photon tubers are inaccurate for the plasma/drone DDs. Ill fix when I update the model, there is a couple of things id like to fix.
Good eye on VL...

Same question......

Outstanding!! Must download this one.:)

HOLY SPIT!!!!! The Antares Class is an excellent design and I could easily see that ship in SFB as the FED CL or CA. The Hermes Class picture you got is just simply amazing! Whoever that artist that is doing the artwork for you, give him my compliments.
P.S. Really like the Engine Design for the Hermes Class. Very original and has a neat tie-in to the Excelcior Class/Ambassador Class engine designs. Would mind to see other vessels based of the the Hermes class design too.

Pardon me but I t takes forever for page 2 to load and I was wondering what is going on. I thought this was finished and release. Is it still WIP or another version?
-
I got hung up on another project that when done you will all really Really REALLY like. I will pick up the Antares back up once that is done, and I will start a new thread when I have some progress done on her. So put down those rotton tomatos....

Great news Lord Schtupp. Looking forward to your yop secret project as well. Its too bad that these tomatoes will go to waste though.
btw I just got SFC1, so thats what I will be using for my TOS mod
-
Dude! You might like SFC1 more than the other versions! Though, this is not to say TOS ships don't look good in EAW/OP; in fact they look superb there, but I seem to get a bigger kick out of SFC1 even if it is visually not as cool.
-
E_look I am liking SFC1 so far. I actually got my butt handed to me by the AI in skirmish mode. The AI was using T bombs effectivly, plus I was trying to set my energy priorities, which I found you can only do by adjusting your speed.
The speed of the game is faster. Speed 4= roughly 7 in sfc2. There is no conquest mode so I gotta play the campaighn.
I see planets now. Can't remember the last time I saw a planet in conquest mode.
Also even the tutrials can be fun where they send 1 ship after another indefinately.
But what really surprised me. Is the screens after a mission look a bit more modern in design than in SFC2.
Only real downside is I have to remove the I-maps in the mod file which will take more time to add ships.
But yea it makes the game kinda new again for me
-
Ship looks good. BUMP
-
James,
On SFC and illumination maps, not all models will work even if you simply remove the maps. Some meshes are made such that SFC1 can't handle them. But you're the modeler and perhaps you spend the time to convert the model. There are SO many models that I have for EAW/OP and look so good there I want to stick 'em in my SFC1, too, but alas...

Back Up to starfleet command Models forum Page 1... B.U.M.P! Excellent work L.S.!!
