Here's tthe mesh...want to do the honors of the textures???
Please

Bump!!!
-
Sure, send it to me, I'll give it a go.
Been feeling like my modeling hiatus is going to be a short one anyway...having dreams about the Stargazer, lol.
Think that means I need to make it huh?
-
Sounds great man...thanks:)
I use milkshape...I can convert her to LW file...or something that you can work with \
Just tell me the format ok???
Thanks again man
-
LW should be fine...I use max5, but I believe Atheorhaven found an importer for LWO, or I can just use Deep Exploration to convert to 3ds. Let me know what the registry and name should be...also, since the pylons come out where they go, do you want the arboretum (sp?) windows done? Let me know the pertinent info when you send it.

-
THANKS!!!
YOU GOT MAIL
-
Did you get it???
-
Yepper!

One slight problem though...only has one pylon and nacelle. I would mirror it and go from there, but wanted to chk with you 1st, as the polie count with the one is at 4958, and that will throw it over 5000.
Sweet mesh, though.
-
Well I guess so...see if you can eliminate any unwanted polies...if possible
If not then "Se La Vee" lol
-
Bump for Info!!!
-
Weeellllllllll.........Mirrored the pylon and nacelle and now the thing is coming in at 10540 polies! Been working for a few hours on trimming that down, but it's going to take awhile. I might even have to re-build a few things. Tried to optimize it, but that only trimmed around 25 polies...big help.
Does MS3D have a boolean function? If so, you might want to re-build and boolean the parts when you put them together. That's what I'm trying to do, but it's time consuming, selecting the parts and detaching them, then making sure it's the part you want and so on.
How about a name and registry? I can start mapping it and such while I'm trimming, and start making the textures.
Let me know.

Really I got a total of 5362 polies
I will email that one to you ok
As for the name this is whats on the old SFC1 kit bash:
UFPF Challenger, OVL-91951-L
But its original Name and Registriy are : USS Peleliu, NCC-1859
so I guess the first one
as it is after its "refit"

Bump for news...please
Just want to know if you got the other two meshes???
-
Sorry bud, my ISP is F%@%ing up and can't get on for more than a couple minutes before I get booted. I got the new email, but the same thing. I'll post a pic so you can see. In Deep Exploration, it shows as 5000+ VERTICES, but it has 10000+FACES. So, I'm trying to cut that down some, then the textures. Hopefully I'll have some progress to post soon.
EDIT:OK, here's the pic so you can see what I mean.

Hope I'm not intervening here but I thought I might offer my 20 bux on the polygon issue.
I can think of only 2 common problems:
-From the looks of things, somewhere in the conversion process, it's getting set to 'double sided'. To check for that, zoom to inside the model and if you can't see anything but polygons, then that's the case (Normal one sided meshes would look invisible from the inside). There should be a setting in 3dx that lets you change to/from double sided.
-Either that's the case or when you mirrored the pylon/nacelles, you also mirrored the entire ship with it. The only swift way to fix that is to start over from the original and hope it doesn't happen again.
-
Thanx WZ, I'll try that. BTW, the pic above is the corrected mesh Azel sent me...didn't have to mirror anything to get the 2nd nac. This is a shot of what it looks like after unzipping and opening the lwo in Deep Exploration.

Thanks guys

A little update on this for Azel:
I've cut the polies down to around 8500 from 10100, and I'm starting on the textures. Do you want this as a Heavy Cruiser, Light Cruiser, Frigate??? I'm going with the USS PELELIU NCC-1859 for the registry if that's ok? Should have some pics to post later tonight.

thats great mAN!!!!!
thanks
can't wait to see those pics
