Title: Fighters: do they work for anyone else?

It's been a while since I posted here ... sorry 'bout that!


I've been playing OP for a couple months now, and I've got a problem that doesn't seem to change no matter what patch I have installed.  Fighters don't work.  No matter what race, my fighters or the computers, skirmish or campaign, they don't work.  PFs work fine, if the computer has 'em.  Not fighters, though.

Buy 'em in spacedock / starbase / planet, go into the game, and look on the shuttle screen: nothing.  Nothin' there.  Go back to a starbase, they're gone.  

Any ideas?


My system specs are as follows:

Soyo Black Dragon MB
Athlon XP 2000+
512 MB DDR
GeForce FX5200 w/128 MB DDR
Maxtor 80GB HD
Quantum 60GB HD
RaidMax case + PS w/6 cooling fans

Got all the latest drivers installed, and right now I've got SFC:OP 2.5.4.12 running.  No mods.


I'd like to be able to use fighters ... any suggestions would be welcome!

OK this is how you fix this problem-

Go to the properties of the icon/shortcut you use to start OP (right click), and change the Target to:

C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\StarFleetOP.exe

and in the Start In field type:

C:\Program Files\Taldren Software Inc\Starfleet Command Orion Pirates\


You will have fighters after that.

Already did that one, to fix the problem where the keyboard didn't work.  The keyboard works now, but the fighters still don't.

try launching the game directly from starfleetop.exe (in your installation directory)

Are you sure you filled in the "Start In" box as well? (I believe the keyboard fix is just to switch exe's. It didn't involve the start in field...)
