I gave up on my router sharing one IP and think that paying 5$ for an extra IP is worth it.The router now protects the second PC. Now I want to use XP firewall on my primary PC. I configered it for D3 and it works great, But when I entered the Port numbers for D2 it failed. I can't Multi SFC2 with it on. Help Plz.

My understanding is that is a known problem with SFC2/D2, that it is not Firewall Friendly.
That is one of the enhancements with D3 is the ability to open ports and play with firewall up.

We are looking at getting a new computer soon with XP so this might be a good question. We also have a router and we are running ME now with the router using 1 ip for 2 computers. IS the router protecting both? We thought it was. Also what if there is another software based firewall involved with this?

SFC2 EAW and OP do not play nice with Internet Connection Sharing, but they have no problem if the ports they need are forwarded through a router or firewall.
That's part of what will be keeping me off D2/D3 for the forseeable future.
