I was reading a thread about how SFC is now 4 years old, and it got me thinking that given the remarkable longevity and support for OP, and given that many EAWers had likely never upgraded to OP until relatively recently, given that the state of OP patches have basically put OP head-and-shoulders above EAW at this point, is there any data at all about whether OP is still selling?
I assume most people are buying OP via ebay. But I assume at least SOME people are going through Interplay.
How about any data via Gamespy about the volume of people playing OP (or EAW for that matter) relative to other games of its age?
Just curious. But it IS the kind of data that might appeal to any potential publisher interested in supporting a computer gaming franchise featuring multiple small expansions, perhaps available only online. Anyhow, just a thought.
Any other games of comparable age to SFC/OP/EAW out there that people still play regularly?
Thanks,
TF

Interplay just had a sale on OP for 4.99 if I remember correctly. Must have been their last copies because now I can't find it in their store.
-
Yes Interplay is all sold out, and since I WONT touch eBay, i bought it through Gamestop.com. Expecting to get it via UPS by Wednesday or Thursday. If i get it Wednesday I got a little time before class on Thursday to check it out, but if i get it on Thursday, I have to save up the suspense (it will prolly kill me) and wait until Saturday to try it out. S&H was more than the game itself.

Well, OP arrived from Gamestop.com today. At first i was surpised it got here so fast, but now after looking at where it was sent from...i suppose i shouldnt have been too surprised, I could have drove to their warehouse and bought from them directly
and been back in time for dinner.

I recently bought a copy from Chips and bits.

Orion Pirates is Out of Print now.

Half life is played a lot, but not the standard game, mods like counterstrike and day of defeat (numbers in the thousands....).
OP/EAW are the opposite however, so the comparaison aint fair as HL mp would prolly be dead if not for mods like CS and DoD

Just picked it up for $4.99 at Software Etc. Also grabbed SFC 3 for $19.99. Now if I could just get them to work.

I've heard that the stock version of OP has many many problems, and you should upgrade the program immediately. Similarly, the only way I was able to get SFC3 to work was with the 1.01 beta patch.

Go them working - thanks to the help of another thread. $25.00 well spent.
Thanks for the help!

Out on the west coast, the game is available at local Electronics Boutiques, Media Play, and (if you get lucky) Wal-Marts.
Perhaps reprintings should be considered, as the current demand will increase.
Gamer-Z has announced that the next cycle of SFC2 will be going to OP.
If reprints arent made a lot (more) of pirated copies of the game will be floating around.
Good Hunting all :-)

Wow....It will be you and the other 25 people that will be left playing "ladder"....Then of course there will be a fight on what shiplist to use....Firesoul's OP+...or....TarMinataur's Shiwrights
OT: Whoo and his crew better get out of 1st gear and start supporting the "other" games that they claim to list

unfortunatly, a problem that i have yet to resolve with my ISP is getting on the dynaverses. When (If) I resolve it, I will be online in celebration.

Dynaverse is best thing about the game

especially SFC3 with the modded servers
