Anyone else spot this..... i've just reistalled all my progs and XP on my comp (hence the new moniker, I forgot my passwrd..original eh??) and ever since I updated directx to 9.0b, my Taldren Mod viewer, M6 Mod Viewer AND milkshape have all started behaving odd in a really SLOOOOOWWWW way...
It's annoying, any ideas???

Run them in compatability mode...
find the application.. either .exe or .com files, right click and select properties,
click on the compatibility tab,
then put a check mark in " run this program in compatibility mode for "
and in the drop down menu, select Win 98/ME
click Ok and see how it works then...
-
Well I'll try that... BUT I've always had Windows XP and I've only had the problem recently.. Ever since I updated to Directx 9.0b...
Cheers Microsoft....!!!
-
What I meant there was that they always ran fine under normal XP compatability...
-
Understood, however.... Win 98/ME is the OS that mod Viewer was based on and that was built under Direct X 7.0
Direct X 9.0b is an XP creation that was retrofitted to older oS platforms.. and as such, could cause problems for older software.... the compatibility mode makes Direct X 9.0b behave as if your running a Win ME system, which should clear up the "Dragging" of the Model Viewer...
at least it cleared it up on my system...
-
Aaaahhhh!!!
Now I get you.... Ok, will try that thanks muchly..!!
-
Well I tried it and no joy.... Trouble is you cant uninstall directx 9.0b and revert back to directx 8.1 or something...
Unless someone knows better of course
-
search the web for Direct X buster.. or better yet, use system restore back to a point to before DX 9 was installed.. you will revert back to DX 8.1...
with DX buster.. it will remove DX from your system completely, but you better have a full install of DX 8.1 ready first... because when you reboot.. it will need to be the first thing you run...
