This was the largest ship used during the Andromedan invasion. The Dominator is a terrifying opponent to face. It's able to slough off damage effortlessly and keep closing in for the kill due to its huge PA panel banks. It also mounts 4 displacement devices and 4 heavy tractor-repulsor beams. These features make it easily a match for the mighty Klingon B10, and it gets even worse once you factor in the large complement of satellite ships this behemoth carries standard. The Dominator hull was also the basis for many unusual variants, such as the Dominion-class(possessing much greater hangar space), the Demolisher class(mounts 6 TRH's and has reduced PA panels), and the devastating Dominatrix-class(an unholy monster mounting 8 TRH's and possessing massively upgraded power systems).
These ships terrified races across the galaxy, from the United Federation of Planets to the warring empires of the Omega sector. They commanded fear and respect from their opponents, and rightfully so.

A large portion of the Andro fleet is snake-themed. Asp, Eel, Mamba, Python, Cobra, etc.
The rest of the fleet has very evil names. Imposer, Intruder, Dominator, Devastator, Etc.
In a couple of cases, there's a Male and Female ship name. The one I can remember right off the top of my head is the King Snake and Queen Snake combination...
So, when they needed a companion to the Dominator, they went with the feminine version of the Dominator. Dominatrix...

All the "galactic cattle" around here should start getting nervous right about now, with a 457bpv Dreadnought that carries another 500bpv of SatShips in it's belly roaming around. If not, wait til they get a load of the Devastator Battleship.
