Title: star trek dads

just asking out of interest, how many of you are out there? i blame me being addicted to trek (and other scifi) on my dad

While I am not a Star Trek dad, I too have my parents to blame for introducing me to Start Trek, which ultimately led to my addiction to SFB.   It's proven to be a very expensive habit!

I'm a Star Trek/Star Wars dad.  I have a lot of fun with my kids.
My middle daughter likes to say Live long and prosper.
All my kids know the Vulcan hand solute.
My son saber attacks me every chance he gets.
And my oldest daughter says now she is the master.

Oh and I've known for a long time that my wife is truly the Dark Lord of the Sith.

I guess I'm one, since both of my kids like to be my weapons officer in playing "spaceships" (any SFC).  HItting the 'Z" key is pretty easy.  My oldest one (5 now) wants to move up to navigator, but our efficiency ratings are dropping

By age 2 they were both able to recognize the Enterprise (TMP, of course )

They also really like SW.

well, my dad got me into star trek, as they say, if you can't beat them, join 'em.  well i got tired of not watching tv so i started watching TNG with him then i figured out there was tos and then the the movies.....  and well i was hooked then.... wierd part is i started out a star wars fan (thanks to my aunt, thats all we watched when we visited)

Ditto. It's his fault. However I am sure my 9-month-old son will probably also be a Trekkie because of me.

I will admit it I am.

Like others my 13 year daughter has graduated from the Weapons Officer position to piloting her own Lyran Starship.

I can still take her in a straight up fight in SFC.

I have been relegated to 2nd tier now in Mechwarior 4 since she does beat me in that friggin game now.

She is a sci-fi addict like me now. So I have done something right.

My 9 year old son was several models and has seen most of the episodes (TNG, TOS, some Voyager...)

My 3 year old daughter calls all Star Trek incarnations "Ship". "Daddy, can we have special dinner and watch ship?" FYI: "Special Dinner" = TV trays in front of the boob tube.

My wife just shakes her head.....

I am a Star Trek & Star Wars dad. My mom encouraged my Star Wars toy collecting, and logically it progressed to Star Trek as well. My son collects Star Wars toys now, too, plus he gets into SFC3 when we play over a network.

Well since I was influenced at a young age by James T.  I can't blame my Dad for this one.  My wife can blame me however as we started watching reruns of TNG a few years ago and she started catching the virus.  When I got around to introducing her to the real series she gave in to the Trek side.  She agrees with me wholeheartedly that they will never reproduce a crew or the interaction between them like the first.  My oldest son caught the SFB bug at an early age.  Little analytical mind hard at work.  I think it was more the counters and sheets and all the stuff that drives a lot of SFB'rs nuts.  Not that they aren't missing a bolt or two already.

At the age of 6 my daughter stood up in the ex-wifes van and said "I knew it I'm surrounded by @##holes".  Mind you she and the ex-wife were the only ones in the van.  So I guess I've influenced my kids with other ...space type....shows too.

That was a good laugh when I heard that one.

I may not be a Star Trek dad (too young to have kids or get married), but I'm a Star Trek uncle! I have one nephew that especially likes to hover around me while I'm browsing the Taldren forums or playing SFC. He likes to play Data when he roleplays. His brother likes to play Worf

I remember watching Star Wars and Star Trek with my father growing up.  Especially the movies when I was growing up. We come from a line of Sci FI enthusiasts I also watched ST: The Next Generation during my teen years.  AS such this led me to play star trek games.  This led me to SFC and  by far, SFC is the best and got hooked.
