Title: How do you beat the 64 ships per hull type limit?

It's hardcoded in the game.
OP had a request that was passed and accepted to double it a few revisions back. That's why it has that edge now over EAW.

Oh, okay, so why do I get some ships added into the shiplist where the spacedock buttons (shuttles, missiles, etc.) are blacked-out?

Look at those ships, and see if they have a value of some sort (crew, etc) with a decimal. (eg: 30.5)

yeah. something went wrong in the logic of the ship. Something else that can cause this is more mines than max mines for a ship. (for example).

make a ship list for each era of the game.

who wants to fly a fed CA in late era ?  when CA+ should be the norm.

as the era advances edit the shiplist to remove obsolescent hull types.
