Title: Dang! Can I Work For These Guys?
Post by: Corbomite on December 15, 2003, 01:21:07 pm
 Huge Xmas Bonus

Getting stuff out of most employers is like getting blood from a stone. Its good to see true holiday spirit from an employer who values their workers.

I'm almost embarrassed to say what our company gave us as a bonus.

Sadly, it wasn't even enough for that.

Be grateful for even that  My company forbade holiday parties this year because of the expense

However one of my managers suceeded in kissing some major butt for my department to have a holiday party at a nice Portuguese restaurant.

It's even better when it's a Texas based company that does it. My wife works for a real estate agency during the day, last year she started in Oct, come Christmas time she got a 1500 dollar bonus check like everyone else. No telling what this year will bring her, but let's say the owners are loaded to say the least. I think Mark Schwartz spends more time on vacations in Europe and all over the world than he does in his office here.

Vicky gets a 3k bonus from the finance dept. of Chihuahua, but I told her govt employees receiving a bonus like that all over the place is wrong, as it is taxpayers money, not for profit...

At my last job, ALL AUTO PARTS, they said if we increased sales by $50,000 a month we would get a bonus for christmas. Well, we brought sales from $300,000 a month to $350,000-$400,000 a month with two less people then the previous year. At Christmas time, when we were supposed to get our bonus our boss told us that we were lucky to have jobs.

I wish I worked at the place that gave out $1000 a year. Hell, give me $100 for a bonus and I would be happy.

The only Christmas bonus I get is the honor of working Christmas day with no holiday or overtime pay.

I work for a global company.  That's what they say at least.  They don't encourage xmas parties, get togethers or anything that might cost them money.  We do get a couple hundred dollars bonus, usually.  That is unless they find a way to cook the books in the final quarter to show that even though the numbers were good in the first three quarters they suddenly got bad in the fourth.  My wife can clear my bonus each quarter with her incentive check if they make it.  Which they do regularily.  In a company that might be 1/10th our size.  Maybe even smaller.

I think our bonus is really the pleasure of being on call every other week.

Of course it's the severance bonus included...

That seems a tad high for a bonus...what's the catch I wonder...or was it really that good of a year for shoes?

I do not think there is any gimmick involved, it only cost the company 200k or so? Well, that is probably chump change compared to what their profits were for this year, and believe it or not, some boards and CEOs still remember where they came from and still care very much for the employees.
