Title: Muzzleloaders: A Question

The more I consider the question, i suspect there is no way to do it that does not involve firing off the round. Is this correct?

You shoot it. If you can't shoot it you have to pull the ball. The older way was to use a brass reverse cork screw to dig into the ball and then pull it. A safer approach is to use the CO2 powdered gadgets that blow the charge out from the flash hole.

If you have a jacketed sabot projectile, I have never encountered that problem and don't know the answer. Do you have any more specific information such as to the type of projectile?
