Title: SFC 3 ON A NEW COMP
Post by: bileman on January 20, 2004, 10:30:47 pm
HELP, PLEASE.........
SFC 3 ran fine on my old win 98 HP.  Then the comp died.  I got a brand new Compaq, with WIN Xp, downloaded all of the new updates (as of 1/19). Installed from the CD.  When I use the shortcut on the desktop I get an error messg , not a valid WIN32 file.  When I go to my computer & go from the CD I get the start menu for SFC 3, but nothing happens.  I tried the beta 101 patch, but I get an error messg that I do not have a valid previous file

I have not seen that before. Are you the Administrator on the XP box? Or were you logged in under a different user in XP when you did the install?

Perhaps simply reinstalling and re-applying the beta 501 patch as the Admin will help.
