Title: Another crappy pointless holiday is aproching

 Called Valentines and my Father will have been gone for a year. May be silly to still feel like this, but sence he died last year all holidays form that point have been meaningless, and worthless.

*shrug* valentines sucks anyway....have to go and pie more gifts to fill big corps pockets. The problem is is that if you dont, your missus wont be happy...its inescabable! And as jack says, you have us, feel free to rant and rave at any time.

I know this may sound trite, but would your father have wanted you to be miserable at every holiday? Sometimes life kicks us in the teeth, but we have to find some measure of happiness. Do you have any family or friends close by you can be with?

Holidays are a time we can relax and be with our loved ones. I know it hurts, but being with people you love during holidays (Or anytime) can help ease the pain.

Big Pun's right, bro...  crappy things happen to the best of people.  That's why you'll never hear of an @$$hole having this stuff happen to them.  I don't know what your beliefs are, but I believe these are tests from God for His good children.  You'll get through this.  We're all here for ya

I am very sorry for your loss.  And, yes, a death like that really puts things into perspective.  For example, go watch Entertainment Tonight and see how pointless all of the things they talk and how pointless they are compared to the realities of life.

I used to hate Valentine's Day basically because I was always alone on it.  I recall being in a particularly bad mood one year in college and blaring the Dead Kennedy's one Valentines Day because I was so depressed.  

I'm married now, and I look forward to Valentine's Day as a day to take a little extra time to tell my wife how much I love her and how much I appreciate her.  

It's really only pointless unless you decide to use it to make your point.
