Title: Scott put his moms site back up.
Post by: TheShadow on February 14, 2004, 12:48:28 pm
I just got an email from Scott/VladThImpaler that he put his mom's site back up. For those that dont know, Scott's mom let his sister use her credit cards and she ran up an ungodly debt. Now she wont pay and Scott's mom, who draws disability, cannot pay them off. Scott started one of those "cyberbegging" sites to try and help her.

Anyway, I know some of the guys on here were concerned and I thought Id let them know whats going on. Here's the email I got.

I'm glad he put up an address, I cannot do anything until Mar 1st when I get my next VA disability payment. My next two charity gifts will be him (I fully expect his mom to QUIT allowing the family to use her like that), and we also have Talon Claw who's wife will be losing her job and his daughter will be entering college. As most of us have some college or college degrees, we all know the costs keep going up and up. I cannot use paypal or pay electronically as I'm currently in Mexico for health care until I can get into the El Paso VA system while I'm here, and I do not trust my info going through Mexican servers.

Thanks guys. No, my aunt isnt going to let anyone use her cards. Scott talked her into cutting up most of them, well all except one. That one is to be used only in emergencies. Scott's also took over her finances. She's moved in with him. He's still working three jobs. All minimum wage, but it is keeping them at bay. Well except for CitiBank. They are going to court.

Its funny that somebody from Arizona get thousands of dollers for new "boobies". And people like him who really need it. Get squat.  Thinks for the link, I will see if the mrs. will allow me to contribute.

Sort of an update. I talked to Scott late last night and he asked me if I could help him out with the website. He doesnt have alot of time to keep it updated. One of the things he wanted to do was add a money saving tips page. I couldnt help but think, well we have alot of brainpower on Taldren, so if any of you guys, or gals, have some tips I might add to the site post them here or PM me.

Not really a money saving tip Will, But Something I would like you to pass on to Scott If you would Please.

The thing is, And Money is tight for everyone , But he and his mother need to allocate at least $100.00 a month each for themselves. They need this For there own Mental health, as much as anything. Here's two examples for you my friend...

Case #1) Myself and family. I make sure that I allocate some money each month for nothing else but the Internet. This allows me to stay in touch with all of you guys, Give's my wife time to play Slingo, and Bingo online (shudder), and generaly helps our own sanity In the long run.

Case #2) My sister in law has had a string of Bad luck also, Her (Now Ex for financial reasons) Husband is in a Nursing home, and she is raising two adopted children by herself. the kids attend a Private school, and her church has stepped up to help cover the after school expenses.

She used to get her nails done once a month, but felt that she should stop, since the Church was paying for her kids After school care. The thing Is I asked her , what Besides that, does she do each month, that relax's her, and Is pleasant for her.

Her answer was Nothing. Don't get me wrong I completely understand her point about saving the money for her kids, But she needs that outlet once a month also to Just have her own time.

If I come up with anything else, I'll mention It too you Will.

Thanks Stephen. Scott and his mom are using every spare penny they can get to pay the bills. This just barely covers the interest rates on the credit cards. They have tried to negotiate with the credit companies to lower the interest rates, but since they are paying I dont think the companies are interested. None of the cards are less than 21.99% APR. They are really hard up.

Thank you msnevil. Scott and his mom appreciate it. I appreciate it too.

Did you check out the updates? I added two pages to his site. I didnt really get the special interests page finished, but my aunt wanted me to get something up. I only got one missing kid on there, but I'll add more later.

Thanks again.

Have Scott try some programs like this if he  hasn't already"

http://www.debt-settlement-inc.com/

I know nothing about these people, but it seem like something to try.  Companies like this call me virtually every day since several fraudulent credit cards were opened in my name.  (I don't owe any of the money, but obviously the fact that I once looked as if I did is still in someone's records.)  This program looks more promising than most.  (Again, I have had no first-hand experience here; I can offer no endorsement.)

In the meantime, I'll see if I can send something.

Thanks Scipio, I'l tell him. I just hope it isnt like most of the other debt stettlement companies. They are employed by the credit card companies. Two of the cards are beyond any settlement arbitration though. They are going to court.

It really steams me to see that the person who took all that aid refuses to contribute atleast a little bit back.
Mismanagment or not somebody has thier priorities mixed up.  It's a shame how much somebody hurts when they were beng generous.

I'll check with teh wife and see how much we can contribute.  Debt sucks but, debt caused by somebody else really hurts.

Agreed, but I hate to turn my back on someone, even if I do not like the situation. God blessed me, I can always return what was given to me. I may be on limited income, but I am much more careful with money now than in my younger days, then again are not we all?

Amen Steve. Scott is really a good Guy, and the fact that he is trying his best speaks Volumes for him. I've wanted to help him out myself, But he won't accept my Donations Yet. BUt hopefully Once we get My wife taken care of, He will.

I know That even just $5.00 a month would have added up for him, over the time he's been asking for help. And He is one guy, I would like to help.

Know Will on the other hand, If he really wanted to Help Scott, He could right abook , about how I sent him a virus, Or my life as a porn Star, Or how I have no sense of humour, Or how He just feels Inadequate, Because I'm a better republican then him.

J/K Will, BBut we have to keep the game between us going, and I am sorry about that Virus. Damn I feel bad about that Bro.

I know what you guys mean. Dont think that I didnt let the rest of the family know what his sister done. She now claims that she doesnt have the money to pay her mom back.   She quit her job that paid $22.50/hr, well actually she made them fire her so she could receive unemployment.

I told my aunt that she should take her to court and make her pay her back, but my aunt is afraid that doing that will cause problems for her grand-daughter. Shoot, Bobbie (Scott's mom) could have probably had her daughter arrested for fraud. The reason that she let her use the cards in the first place was to buy baby items and a few things needed for her home. She went on a spending spree.

When Scott was little he d*mn near died from a birth defect which caused metabolic problems. His mom never left his side for more than a few minutes and only then because her mother was with him. After Scott found out what his sister had done he went to confront her. Her husband made the mistake of mouthing off to him and Scott beat the **** out of him.

A bump as VA deposits my money tomorrow, and Leda will mail the check from Austin. I just need to keep bumping as I forget sometimes.

Will, your two packages are STILL in the trunk of the Camry. I will get on Leda's arse to get to post office. I could not mail in Jan when I was in Texas due to personal issues.

Tim, your games will get mailed this week. I have no need for them. Still wish I could play OP, but for some reason I cannot access dyna   It will be the only game I own now besides SFC 1 and a star wars game.

Hey shadow.

I have a sound blaster extigy that I'm not using anylonger (here are the specs http://www.soundblaster.com/products/extigy/ )

Do you think he would be interested in me sending it to him so he can sell it on Ebay for his mom? They're still going for around 100 bucks retail and support 5.1 surround 24bit audio. Good sound system. I'd be happy to mail him the hardware and software CD's no charge to help out. I would offer to sell it myself, but I dont have an Ebay account.

He probably would. He's been trying to find stuff to sell. Problem is he doesnt have much free time to look for things. You want to send it to the PO Box listed on his mom's site, or do you want me to send you his home addy?

Bump

May I remind the people that have a little bit to spare, that Talon Claw's wife lost her job on Mar 1st, laid off due to our great economy. Though he has never asked, I'm going to help while I can, as next month is political campaign contribution time to my rep and senator (my senator is at least a good looking older woman   ).

I broke down and had to use the electronic pay thingy (I hate using the net for purchases and transfers of money), but I get to have my name on a site now? At least for a year!   Glad I could help, and good luck reaching that goal, too bad the bad apples of the family did so much damage before they got cut off, don't let this crazy vet near them, I'll go buck wild.

Texas of course! I'm an American and damn proud of it!

Remember, I just visit Mexico for friends and this time was for healthcare as VA really can suck at times, even though they are one of the most efficient departments of our Federal govt. IMHO and experience.

I'll start a healthcare thread later, it's going to make a lot of working class Americans sick to their stomach.

No need to thank me, I get helped by every American whether they want to or not. In my mind I could divide my VA disability compensation into hundreths of a penny from every American. It's only right I should contribute back. Besides, I know all too well what it is like when people do not care, they talk the talk, but do not walk the walk.

What is with calling me Scott? I know I dont suffer from MPD.

Do you guys believe Im Scott? Dang, that would be news to our mothers!

The only reason I can think of that you guys might come to that conclusion is if Scott told you that his first name was also WIlliam. If that's the reason, then ya'll are wrong. See, in our family, 75% of the guys are named William. About as many of the gals are named Mary. It goes back all the way to England when one of our ancestors fought for William I. Since then, there has been at least one William in every generation of our family. Currently, there are about 40 members of my family named William.

Shadow, as you know I went off at the Home Depot in Chihuahua (good thing I did not get arrested) as they have people who do NOT work for Home Depot working the parking lot, wanting to help you load things for some pesos at the last minute. I do not blame them but anyone that is a stranger and gets near me makes me very anxious. Anyways, I got on Home Depot's website to complain since they do not have that BS in the USA stores, and they have a charity section on their homepage. Perhaps you or Scott could take a few moment's and write them explaining the situation and ask if they could help a little bit?

If they need a list of customers who want them to help out, I'll be glad to put my name on it, as I shop Home Depot, Lowe's, Sears, and it's only fair that they contribute a little back to the Americans that support their companies and give Americans jobs! Besides, I got receipts to prove I shop at Home Depot!

Ok guys, Im looking for a little feedback on an idea Ive had. Ive been looking into "cyberbegging" to get a better handle on how I could help Scott and his mom out. Ive noticed on alot of these sites that they have a "store". Usually this is set up at cafepress.com, but when I looked into their pricing, the "store owner" makes little if anything off of the merchandise. Now back along time ago, when I made extra money working flea markets, I had sources for tons of merchandise. Everything from high-end stereo equipment and electronics to novelty gadgets like radiometers.

What do you guys think the chances of success are? I know there are alot of sites selling electronics at cheap prices, but I have access to a large array of items. I can even get a PONG like game kit like the ones we played with as kids. Think the general public would be interested?

I'd be willing to help market the site if that's what your asking. I could spread it around to a few friends etc...

It would be kinda neat to get a Pong kit or something like that.

Thanks Stephen. Thats sorta what I was asking, but I also wanted to know what people on here thought about the chances of its sucess. I know alot of people on here buy and sell online. Do ya'll think there is a market for items like we played with as kids? Things like:

Burp guns- Air pumped "rifle" that shoots ping-pong balls
Robot kits
Radiometer- The little glass ball with a fan inside painted black and white that turns when exposed to the sun
Transistor and diode radio kits
Childrens chemistry sets
The little drinking bird that is filled with red liquid
Growing brains- Drop it in water and it grows to the size of a human brain. Give it to the Dem or Rep in your life
etc etc

If they do not want to donate to anyone on the forums, or can't due to financial reasons, why not get cardboard boxes and encourage management to get the employees to put their soda cans and such in the boxes so that the aluminum may be sold to a recycling company?

Many of you on the forums drink beer, how about getting a waste can and crushing your old beer cans and putting them into the waste can until it's full and then sell the aluminum and help others out?

One thing you could do Shadow is get with Sethan, he knows about setting up businesses and stuff and getting everything legit. Set up a charity organization, that way all the donations (up to a certain percentage) are a tax write off for companies and people alike?

Here in Mexico I do as the Germans do, I have a waste can for aluminum and tin and steel, I have another for cardboard, and I have one for plastics (yes people, plastics can be recycled), and I will get one for newspapers as well.

There are over 6k people registered on Taldren, many have moved on, but had we acted collectively, in one month with 5 bucks from each person (a six pack of beer in cost) we could have ended this one person's problem and set her free.

Another option is to all meet in Houston heavily armed with plenty of ammo and invade Halliburton HQ and tell the press that we will hold everyone hostage until Halliburton releases ALL assets to charity and to the people of America.

Thanks for the advice Jack. Ive been running a sideline business for awhile now. All my paperwork is in order, permits, tax number, etc. Im not telling the Feds anything. Im just going to give the money to Scott and his mom. If the Feds want to know where it came from he can tell them I loaned it to them. I'll tell them I invested the money by loaning it to them.

Have I mentioned how much I dislike the IRS?

Im currently working on building the Store for my aunt's website.

I would not post stuff like that here, but yes, A LOT of people do sideline work, I even did it while in college working on cars in a full service capability auto tech school. I got away with it because I did a lot of charity jobs as well. I was glad to quit the side jobs at school though as near the end of my studying and working on projects, I did a "side job" on diagnosing (he had work done on his A/C at a shop and a couple of weeks later the compressor seized up from metallic particles from the expansion valve going to crap and releasing metal fragments in to the lines and compressor) and retrofitting a 92 Toyota Previa A/C system (dual A/C is a beech) to R-134A. I thought since most shops would charge darn near 1000-800 dollars I would get a couple of hundred. The old man actually had the nerve to bring me and my class a watermelon!

In case you do not realize the symbolic gesture, I will not go into details. Needless to say I was very, very insulted.

I wish there were more people like you Shadow that did contribute like you do. Unfortuneately America is not big on charity, even though they can write off a certain percentage on their tax forms (even with a receipt for a money order or check stating "charity."

I have a GS-12 friend who is a special investigator for the IRS HQ center in Austin, and even she admits they need reforms. The worse thing is, they catch $250,000 and up cheaters, and they do no time so long as they pay Uncle Sam back. Rich and famous get all the breaks, just like Diana Ross doing 2 days and she was at least twice as intoxicated as I was!

I understand the symbolism. Id have let him wear the watermelon, or at least gave it back to him so that he would have needed a proctologist (sp?) to take it "off" his "hands".

I know what you mean. Justice goes to those that can afford it.

It just pisses me off to see someone take advantage of another. Especially, when that the person being taken advantage of is the person's mother.

Here's a question about an item Im thinking of putting on the site. Its a pair of RC tanks. They make gun noises and spin around when one shoots the other. Here's the description:

Quote:

You thought remote?control cars were fun? Wait until you rev up these remote?control tanks! The 3? tanks (1:102 scale) move left, right, forward and backward, climb over obstacles on rubber treads, and have controllable turrets that swivel left and right. The plastic bodies come in forest and desert camouflage (you get one of each) in U.S. M4, German Panther and German Tiger models. They emulate machine?gun fire with sound and cannon shooting with a recoil; a direct hit with your infra?red beam spins the enemy tank 360°. The tanks have (4) game modes, and instructions for them. Each grenade?look remote has 9 buttons and a 3?channel selector so you can stage battles with up to (3) tanks. We?re selling the tanks in packs of (2) because (2) are exponentially more fun than (1). Each comes with (3) ?AAA? and (4) LR44 batteries, plus an extra set of LR44s, and (13) tiny molded?plastic accessories (soldiers, trees, bunkers, oil drums). Choking hazard for children under three. Xtreme fun for everyone else!

Unfortunately, they cost nearly $70. Would anyone be interested in paying...say...$85-$90 for them?
Title: Re: Scott put his moms site back up.
Post by: TheShadow on March 15, 2004, 03:08:01 pm
Hmmm, no responses. Too much? Honestly, the price is about $70. If you dont believe me I can send Stephen a link to the company that sells them. That way, he can vouch for me. I know everyone trusts him.

If it just sounds like too much for an RC toy, let me know.

Ooops, Theyre $60.00. Would $75-$80 be too much? After shipping, Scott's mom would get about $7-$15.

Sure If you want to send me the link Bro, It's all good.

My soon to be son-in-law loves those RC cars. I know he would Prob. buy a few of them so we could run them around in my Backyard. I know that alot of his simple parts cost around that price alone, so He'd be interested.

Stephen

EDIT: I saw the link, and those tanks look pretty cool. Heck I' by one formy Nephew If he'd ever get off hisDiaper and mow the lawn.

Hey guys. I thought Id bump this again. I know, I know...the site hasnt been updated in a bit. Im working on it. I really am. Im still looking into things to sell on Scotts Mom's site. Its hard to find products that are really wholesale priced. Most of the suppliers I used when I used to sell stuff have been sold, gone out of business, or have went to retail pricing. Well, thats the status so far....now back to your scheduled programming.

Im giving up on the "store" idea. First, too much money up front. I cant afford right now to lay in stock. Second, drop shippers want too much for what they have.

Anyway, I think I'll use auctions. I can get stuff for next to nothing and sell it on eBay. Ive spent most of my free time looking for suppliers and found nothing but cheesy crap. Im kind of disgusted at the moment. I can use the time to work on my aunt's site.

You guys have been good to Scott and care about his Mom so I just thought Id give ya'll an update.

Exellent...make sure he doesn't lose the CD because while you can download updated drivers on the creative website you have to have the drivers installed from the CD first.

It's a little quirky to get it to run correctly on a windows XP installation...I'll email you some directions so you can pass the info along.

Scott's also took over her finances. She's moved in with him. He's still working three jobs. All minimum wage, but it is keeping them at bay. Well except for CitiBank. They are going to court.

One of the things he wanted to do was add a money saving tips page.

Thank you for donating bro. I have to admit, Taldrenites are a breed apart.

Give it to the Dem or Rep in your life
etc etc

Hehe, a few of those I would Diff. Go for . I used to love those little radio kits, Chemistry sets, etc. and alot of us have young children in the house, so I'd say It was a good Venture.

There are many employed people on these forums, and they work for companies. People drink coke and other stuff all the time. So...

Title: Re: Scott put his moms site back up.
Post by: Sirgod on March 15, 2004, 03:18:40 pm

Give it to the Dem or Rep in your life
etc etc

There are many employed people on these forums, and they work for companies. People drink coke and other stuff all the time. So...

Post by: JMM on March 14, 2004, 09:23:34 am

EDIT: I saw the link, and those tanks look pretty cool. Heck I' by one formy Nephew If he'd ever get off hisDiaper and mow the lawn.

I have an exellent sideline business selling weapons grade plutonium to militia groups in Montana. Fortunatly they have more money than brains and so far their warhead design is a piece of dynamite strapped to the pluntonium.
