Remember the 2 years the Original Series missed out?
Remember all the possibilities for stories we were denied?
Remember all the adventures we have yet to face...?
Man, I saw this, and it TOTALLY blew me away!! DL the series trailer at the site, and see what you think. Sure, the sets may look a little hokey, but then so did Roddenberry's originals- its completely authentic to the Original Series, including the props. And the special effects, man, if Roddenberry had access to THESE...
Download the Series Trailer, see what you think
Check it out, guys- even though its on a fraction of the budget, it makes Enterprise look like a children's christmas play

Their website design is...hokey...
-
It points me from page A to url B, at least it works properly
Checked the series trailer yet?
BTW, bear this in mind. The actors are portraying the characters in the series. They are NOT hamming up Shatner, Nimoy or the others, they've just studied the characters and are acting them out. Try to disassociate the image of the Kirk character with the (oversize) picture of Shatner and co, and it suddenly seems a whole lot better

Now that ROCKS

It seemed too...scripted to me...
I spose after the roles sink in, it will seem less rigid...
And it was a bit short, circa 15 minutes shorter than a typical TOS episode...

Watched the trailer...what the heck...seems like they forgot about the representative of 2/5 - 3/5 of the world population...everyone's favorite Asian...Sulu...and replaced him with DeSalle? Hmmm...riiiiiight. Seems like they added another lady on the bridge though.
I'm pretty certain Sulu wasn't commanding his own ship at that point yet. They couldn't find any Asians to play the Japanese man who goes crazy (well, maybe not crazy, but a fencing crazed man who in the mirror universe is a power hungry security officer).
The guy they have playing kirk...seems...well...more John Travolta or Elvis than Kirk...but I only watched the trailer so who knows.
Weird is all I can say right now from what I saw.

They didn't have to ham it up like Shatner, Nimoy, etc. They already had enough original ham on their plate.
I thought the production values were very good, but in that episode it seemed they tried to see how many Star Trek in-jokes they could cram into it. By the end of the episode, I was just praying for some Klingon, Romulan, ANYBODY to come along and put them out of their misery. The jokes came off forced, the delivery was terrible, and I didn't get the sense that any of the actors were really trying to bring their characters alive. The biggest thing missing from their "humor" was a laugh track.
Was it truly a tribute or a barely concealed spoof of TOS?
The guys over at Starship Exeter did a much better job with fewer resources.
That's my opinion on it.

They did a better job than I thought

The ship effects were excellent, I was very surprised at how well they did it

I agree, for fan fiction they did a good job. Take a look at some of the Star Wars fan fiction movies. This is on par with those.

This is tooo cool. I love it. I hope they do more.

Unfortunately Im not a fan of low budget things and thought I was going to wrech when I saw this....kind of reminds me of kung pow...(except kung pow was good..er..this isnt but thats my opinion)

New Voyages is made by the fan club I am a member of. The Club is the IFT. website: http://www.iftcommand.com/

hmm. Additional cast has 9 pictures missing. That must be the red shirts that died in the first episode.
And SL-punisher, I lament every time a red shirt meets the maker.

I've not DLed it yet, but just looking about the site I am very impressed!
It looks fantastic, and they've clearly been using the Franz Joseph Tech Manual (or maybe SFB) material for their special effects. I can't tell ya how excited I am about all this! It is soooo cool to see people in the TOS uniforms and sets. I love it already, despite the negative reviews some have given it here. I'll wait until I see it until I render a verdict, but I'm hopeful!
And the girl who plays Uhura (Julienne Iron) - especially in that pic in their gallery section - MMMMMMM!

I am, as ever,
