Download SFC 2 version
I decided to alter my SS Aurora and turn it into the Tholian ship. Now if someone could track down the original SFB specs for this ship....I might go on and do some more of the Tholian fleet.

If you mean the original PC then all it had was 4 PH 1 fireing foward, and a single web caster. The disrupter version added 1 disrupter to it. The photon version added 1 photon to it.
Thats from memory without diging out all that stuff and looking at the stats.

thats a nice ship atra. id love to see more tholians.there are some cool models out there but most of them have week textures.breezegone has alot of good stuff but everything is tos. dont get me wrong - i love tos but im currently working on a tos->tmp mod so im in need of some tmp versions:)

I used brezgonnes models, which I didnt like, but there wernt too many more out there.
Right now, there is another server in the pipe that will use thols and there are scripts that make use of the tholian web device. So its workable in sfc. Id love to see an entire thol fleet be done.
Is there anything I can help with if you do these models?

As for more Tholian ships, we can use this thread to discuss the nature of the Tholians, because I believe they merit a lot of discussion, and helping to know their nature will definitely help me make decisions when detailing the ships.
My beliefs re the Tholians:
I believe for the pre-TOS and the TOS eras, their ship hulls are basically a kind of metal, not a crystal. It's some kind of dark steel plating in the pre-TOS-era, and some kind of polished titanium-steel (a more refined look) for the TOS ships. The pre-TOS-ship that we saw in that episode of "Enterprise" had blue glowey side panels that had cross-hatched meshing over it, which is what I decided my TOS Tholians should have at those large triangular spaces on the sides of the hull.
The pre-TOS-design, in addition to this, had yellow glowey engine thrusters at the back too, taking up quite a bit of space. I felt I couldn't get away with putting anything like that on the TOS design because it's much too obvious and if I included that detail i would have been breaking away from canon, which I didn't want to do.
In Klingon Academy, Tholian ships were "interepreted" to have more crystalline-like hulls, which I feel is a much more interesting look.
I think if you want to hold on to canon, the Tholian ships had to have metallic hulls early on, but maybe later in the TMP-era they developed technology to make their hulls more than metal, but something more akin to crystalline.
Any further thoughts on the nature of Tholians and their ships are welcome....

well atra, i dont think there is much to criticize about your web spinner.id love to play around with the textures a bit, making a tmp version of it.
for other tholian ships it would be cool to have that yellow impulse glow on them. i remeber the tholian dn in ka. it was a big ship with a freakin cool design. id love to see a remake of it as well as a tos version. that ship had a very small impulse engine in the mittle of the lower pylon/arm/whatever thing.it just looked right.
from what ive heard and read the (neo?-)tholian nca was a popular sfb design. i cant say i loverly like its design but it definitly looks more like tos ship than the ships in ka.maybe thats something to go on with.
just my 2cents.

Its great to read about you posting WIP for models again, but I got to ask, "Any chance you'll update the Klingon Gorkon carrier in light of all the flipping SFB based FCVs coming out?" I ca't get it to be retextured a la your L24C textures... PRETTY PLEASE! I Love it but I just can't get it the more realistic textures I'm looking for...
Besides, this is kind of related anyway as the SFB Klingons had their Tholian Border Harassment squadron and will be in need of a carrier to beat on all these new Tholian ships.
Ganymad, check Dark Matrix's site for the unfinished Taldren Galaxies at War project Tholians (DN, CA, CL, FA, FTR, SB)and SFU for the entire run of DM's Klingon Academy Tholian conversions. The KA Tholian conversions are MUCH higher poly versions at SFU.
There are also a bunch of KA style retextures I did of Hollis J. Wood's TNG Tholians there as well (FTR, Shuttle, SB CX).

I rather like your take on the Tholian history, do you think the crystalline ships could be derived from plans the 312th Neo-Tholian squadron brought with them. You gotta think they must have been doing some research in experimental tech back in the home galaxy to try and overcome the Seltorians. Once they knew they were done for they upped and left and nicked the research so those bloody cockroaches couldn't get their slimey Klink-loving claws on it

C'mon Atra,
The L-24C is NOT green a la Taldren stock Klinks. I Love the Klingon writing on the hull and hangar bays, so I'd want to keep that. I mean a retexture the Gorkon with textures closer to the L-24C and or your C-7 and other Klinks to bring it in line so it fits in better IMHO. Something I have not been able to successfully do...
