This is a new TNG Destroyer/Escort based on the Defiant's compact warship styling. She's just been posted at DRS (if the server hasn't died again), and has all the appropriate bells and whistles. On a side note, kudos to whoever figures out the correlation between the name, registry, and ship class.

AWESOME!!!
Or in your case WICKED!!!!
-
1968 Shelby Cobra GT500? A real muscle car

Beautiful ship too
-
Cool design!
And now I'm scratching my head about the correlation, so here's a long-shot.
Shelby's the officer from the TNG episode, "The Best of Both Worlds" who wielded a Cobra-style phaser? The 68500 registry? Hmmmm...I'm goin' out on a limb here, but is that the frequency her phaser was set at when they boarded the Borg vessel?
-
The GT500 was a Mustang, though, wasn't it, not a Cobra? But both were the work of Carroll Shelby...
-
I believe the full title is a Shelby Cobra Mustang with various GT tags after (350, 500 etc)
'Stang Stuff
The car usually referred to as a "Cobra" was actually a british AC sports car that Shelby worked his magic on
"Cobra" wasnt just the car itself (bit like the Trans-Am tag...the car was still a Firebird, Trans-Am was a variant, but nearly everyone called it a trans-am anyway
)

Great ship sir thank you,and as for the trivia........It's the 1968 Shelby Cobra 500GT.....a.k.a. The last car and Nicholas Cages favorite in Gone in 60 seconds.

Whatever the refference (I know nothing bout yank muscle cars, only european sports cars and supercars) but the ship looks well cool for a TNG ship (not a big fan of TNG era) love the little logo infront of the bridge

Oh and the big Steamrunner-esque bussards look good too.
-
Nice ship WZ45!
OK, I'll ask...
What happened to the Missouri Class BB you were working on?
KF
-
Yeah, it's the Shelby GT-500 Mustang that I was referring to. My all time favorite car as a matter of fact. I may build ships as a hobby but I'm a car buff at heart, hence the inclusion of a few subtle car references in my ships.
As for the Missouri, I'm still working on 'er. A ship like that needs extra attention afterall...
-
Gr8 news about the Missouri.
And I know this'll sound really ungrateful and everything but I gotta ask - do you have any plans to update the Miranda & variants? Cuz they just don't fit in with the rest of the Fed fleet that looks so kickarse now.
Anyway one last
and I'm off.

When I saw "Cobra-class Destroyer, I thought that you had done another Andro.

This is a very nice looking ship though, for a Feddy.
Great job on her.
-
Nice lighted sections. Maybe you should have added fog lights fore,, neon tubes port and starboard, and some monster speakers in the aft section... or does it only have a 12V lead acid core under the hood? Can it use regular dilithium or he pricey high test crystals? (And I'm sure some bureaucrat in Starfleet is going to want to know the mpg of deuterium, or is it light-years/ton?)
-
rumor has it that shelby has one last "car" up his sleave.. hmm..
-
Wow! I like that design better then the Defiant Class! That things aswsome! Is this ship suppose too be made during the same time as the defiant (a variant of it) or after the class became mainstream?
-
Yeah, he has that beasty and a new version of the original Cobra speedster:
Actually, I pegged this one as being built after the Defiant class was in full production - something like a continuation of the original Defiant concept, after all the bugs and kinks were worked out.
-
Yo ... Nanner ... what do ya thing about this baby for the "Special Project Ship" you had in mind. I very seldom resort to shamless publicly begging my son for some thing.... but this ROCKS !!!
One of the few Fords I ever cared anything about was the Mustang series. ( The '73 Mach I Fastback was my fav..)
I LIKE IT !!!

Hey Wicked, thanks for the info. It does looke like that this ship is a little larger then the Defiant Class (not by much, but some). And it looks like it has a tad more weapons available too it then your standard Defiant. The only complaint (and its not really a big complaint because it still looks awsome) is that the Ram Scoops seem a little too big too me. I think if they where only 80% the size they are now, it would be just right.
Again, this is just my opinion.

It would be neat if they had the mesh style grilles that would wrap over the bussards, but oh well, still a nice ship none the less.

total cool man and she fits in real nice with the defiant

Awsome ship WZ. It's almost good enough to become Klingon

Speaking bout Klingons, i requested a four engined Accurser in TNG trim of Atolm/Azel a while back. When he showed me the first drawing of it you seemed to leap at the oppertunity to model it (though Azel did a sketch not a complete design). Do you have any info on that front or should i bug Atolm for it?
