Title: CoreEdit
Post by: awm3 on April 22, 2004, 12:43:50 pm
Hello everyone,

Here is where things stand:

First, an explanation.  I have barely visited these forums, and have not worked on CoreEdit since the release of the demo (mid-October, 2003).  There are two primary reasons for this:  (1)  university - I have been very busy with coursework, (2) programming inexperience - when I started CoreEdit I had only had 1 half-year course in C++ programming, therefore my code was filled with holes and, shall I say "creative solutions" which made it very hard to follow (I also did not properly comment it).

I have now finished my exams for this year and will be starting a full time summer job in May.

There still seems to be interest in the program, and I am now interested in returning to it, so here is what I propose regarding the future of CoreEdit:

Once again, I thank you for your continued interest in CoreEdit.

  • I will recode those parts which require it

  • I will properly document all of the existing program code

  • I will then continue with the LoadOut editing code

  • If I can no longer work on it, I will make the documented, formatted source code available so that anyone else who is interested can continue working in it

  • I will make no guarantees or promises, and I will announce no deadlines or release dates

  • If it stops being fun, then I will stop working on it

Once again, I thank you for your continued interest in CoreEdit.

Indeed.  This program would be a life saver for moding SFC3.  Even if I had too play like 5 or 10 bucks, I would still be whilling too pay that.

Well lets just say I would be willing to pay $50 to get this program working. I don't know about you but I have spent a good 10 hours last time trying to get a new freaking shuttle into the game. And when it finally did show up and work..almost like it should, three other ships started coming up missing. And that was just one shutte, that was not counting the some 40 odd ships I also want to add to the game. My time is limited just like everyone else's and my offer will still stand at $50 for this program to be completed. Trust me I am not kidding on this.

I don't know, $50 is tad much in my opinion.  That would be more then SFC3 is worth!  I can't rmember now, but I think I only payed 30 or 40 dollars for my copy.  It would be sort of rediculas too pay more money on a utility for a game then what the game is actually worth.
