Grebnedlog: "We are far from home. Our ship is the Mondor. It is broken. We
look for things. Things that make us go. We need help. You will help us."
[A shimmer of light and a young Officer disappears from the Bridge. Picard's heart skips a beat.]

Picard: "I am Captain Jean-Luc Picard of the USS Enterprise. What is the meaning of this? You will not harm her!"
Grebnedlog: "Our ship is broken. We do not know what it is but you will fix it."

LaForge: "Don't tell me, their rubber band broke, right?"
Picard: "i hear there is a new patch on the way. That should get them going again."
Riker: "A patch? This is a surprise."
Picard: "Mr LaForge?"
LaForge: "Yes I have been working on it. It was like putting together a big jigsaw puzzle when you
don't even know what the picture's supposed to be."
Riker: "Yup."
Data: "Fastinating.."

[In Engineering]
Riker: "The re-materialization subroutine's been disabled."
LaForge: "Yeah, and that's not all. The phase inductors are connected to the
emitter array. The override is completely gone, and the patch has
been locked into a continuous diagnostic cycle."
Riker: "This doesn't make any sense. Locking the patch into a diagnostic mode
just sends the matter array through a pattern buffer. Why would anyone--"
LaForge: "There's a pattern in the buffer still."
Riker: "It's completely intact. There's less than point-zero-zero-three percent
signal degradation. How is that possible?"
LaForge: "I don't know, but if I bypass these sub routines I think I can bring the patch on line."
Riker: "Can you do it Geordi?"
LaForge: "It's a good possibility."
Riker: "I have the utmost confidence in you Geordi. Make it so."
LaForge: "Oh my!"
Riker: "What is it Geordi?"
LaForge: "The patch contains..."
Riker: "What?"
LaForge: "I could be mistaken but I'd swear I see a pattern in the patch. Wait! It is the essence of Captain Montgomery Scott!"
Riker: "Scotty? Can you communicate with it?"
LaForge: "Yes Sir. I just need to bypass a few more circuits. There."

Scotty: "I am Captain Montgomery Scott. Tell me, how long have I been missing?"
Riker: "Well-- What should we tell him Geordi?"
LaForge: "I don't know if we should tell him or just turn him off."
Scotty: "Good lord, man, where have you put me?"
LaForge: "I'm sorry Captain but it would seem you are somehow part of a computer program."
Scotty: "What? You know, these quarters remind me of a hotel room in Argelius. Oh now
there is a planet! Everything a man wants right at his fingertips! 'Course,
in the first visit, I got into a *wee* bit of trouble!"
LaForge: "Captain Scott! I've tried to be patient, I've tried to be polite. But I've got a job to do here! I told the captain I'd have this patch done in 365 hours and that's in my spare time."
Scotty: "How long would it really take?"
LaForge: "365 hours!"
Scott: "Oh, you didn't tell him how long it would *really* take, did you?"
LaForge: "Well of course I did."
Scotty: "Oh, laddie, you've got a lot to learn if you want people to think of you
as a miracle worker!" And I'm here to help!"
LaForge: "That's very kind, but I'm sure I can handle it."
Scotty: "I was a Starfleet engineer for fifty-two years, Mister LaForge. I think
I'm still useful."
LaForge: "Frankly you are just a program and I don't think you can help."
Scotty: "I was driving starships while your great-grandfather was still in
*diapers*! I think you'd be a little grateful for some help! I'll leave you
to work, Mister LaForge!"
LaForge: "Very well Sir!"
Picard: "Geordi, Where's that patch?"
LaForge: "Well Sir. It's almost done and I'd like to say with several hours to spare."
Picard: "Already? A bit early I'd say. Geordi you've become quite the Miracle worker."
LaForge: "Well Captain I...."
Scotty: "Shhh... Told ya laddie."

[Bridge]
Grebnedlog: "Do not try to trick us. We can tell. You have one minute to release the patch or we will take Ann instead."
Riker: "Ann?"
Picard: "Yes Ann. She is Taldren_Admin and she's mine and no one can have her!"
Riker: "But she's just an ordinary woman."
Picard: "Shut up number one! She's way more than that!"

Grebnedlog: "We wish to be nothing if not persistent but we will keep Ann if you do not give in to our demands."
Picard: "Geordi! I need that patch now!"
LaForge: "Almost there."

Picard: "I don't suppose you'd be willing to wait a little longer?"
Grebnedlog: "You will release the patch and fix us now if you ever want to see Ann again."

Picard: "Release the patch!"
Riker: "Do you know what you're doing Captain?"
Picard: "Do it! Release it...."
