I find to my horror that ive got space dust!!!!!
is there any way of gatting rid of it cos it looked fine before....

Man, take a valium and calm down....
go into your SFC II folder and find the SFC.INI file...
look for
[3D]
wireframe=0
windowed=0
zbuffer=1
lowres=5
driver=0
backdrop=1
shipstacking=1
ambientlighting=0.35
spacedust=0
and look at the last setting there.. spacedust=0 .. 0 is off, 1 is on...
check this setting to make sure it is correct...

Thanks for that however......
I dont have that entry in my sfcini file...
here's what i got
[3D]
wireframe=0
windowed=0
zbuffer=1
lowres=5
driver=0
backdrop=1
shipstacking=1
ambientlighting=0.3
luminancetextures=1
luminancedamagetextures=1

Yep, there are a number of entries that aren't inserted by default but which can safely be added.
Has anyone ever seen a list of options available for the ini file? Things like spacedust and volley info pretty much get passed around by word of mouth, but I've never seen any kind of list of what's available. You never know what you're missing

not for SFC2 or 3...
There is a comphensive listing for SFC1 in the SFC1 supplementary manual (some of which apply to later games)
Goto interplay.com (manuals under download section) for the PDF file.
