Title: PC Error
Post by: KOL_Grim on June 10, 2004, 01:05:16 pm
Well recently i got a new pc, ran fine then the other day i checked my error log and noticed several entries of this

Access denied attempting to launch a DCOM Server using DefaultLaunchPermssion. The server is: {00020906-0000-0000-C000- 000000000046} The user is Unavailable/Unavailable, SID=Unavailable

Didnt occur before the 7th of June so i did a system restore to the 6th of June to see if that helps, will check later if it has, annyone know what this error is, is it serious etc.

It almost sounds like your PC was trying to Make a Call to another PC. Have you done a Virus scan/ Adaware thingie?
also do you have Messenger turned off?

Just off the top of my head.

Agreed.  I assume you're running Windows?  Make sure you visit Microsoft's website and download all the hotfixes that deal with the DCOM vunerability.  Good Luck!

I have all the latest updates, ran both spyware and anti virus checks and found nothing.

The error log has appeared to stop reporting the error, hopefully the system restore has done its job, though i cant see how the error started.
