Title: How do you guys make those great signatures?

Ok, I tried to change my profile to a shade of green, but I have to ask. How do you guys make those cool signatures with all of the ships? I am very jealous and would like to learn how to do it. Do you need special software?

I think you are asking do you have to be a graphic artist to make the images? No, but it helps. There is shareware and so forth that will give you the necessary tools.

Then you have to put the image onto a server so that others can see it, and put a link to that image file in your sig. Most people get some free server space with their internet accounts.

Thanks. I have some server space, but I am not sure how to make a picture. Do you have any suggestions on software?

Well the most basic is MS Paint that comes with windows. I'm assuming you are going to start with some existing artwork. Make sure you save as a JPG or some small format.

How I built my sig / avatar combination:

Took an in-game shot of the I-DN, at green alert, before the hardpoints started filling in.
Used Photoshop (although paint or any other graphic-editing program will do) to cut out the wireframe (avatar) and ship itself (sig)
Rotated ship 90 degrees clockwise
Pasted the ship itself onto a larger black field, then used the text tool with various fonts to insert my name / information / quote etc.
Put final image onto webspace, sig was born...
Resized avatar to Taldren's pixel specs, uploaded that, and the avatar was born.

Took me an hour or 2 to do it.  It would probably take me a lot longer if I went with a more involved background, but being partially colorblind I went with simpler colors so I could see what I was doing...

I use ulead photoimpact 8 (used to use 6, until I upgraded... I can make you one... it will probably be done in a week or less...) PM me what your favorite ship is, and ill hook you up... and the setting and type you want, etc.

Neither. The guys name was attack viper, he told me what he wanted, he sent me the images, and I made it for him. I would have chosen other pictures (I did get the snake image between Attack and Viper, but thats it), but he wanted those.
