Title: Updated ED mission pack and installer
Post by: NuclearWessels on August 04, 2004, 05:03:26 pm
OK, I finally got the mission pack and mct files cleaned up and seem to have the installer/uninstaller working (thanks again FS!)

This installs the latest version of all the ED missions (plus one .mct per race for SP play) plus a handful of scripts that haven't been posted previously (notes below).

[Note: if you're playing on the GW test server you might want to wait for word from DH or J'inn before switching to this pack]

Until sfcx comes back online you can find the installer here, running around 4meg:
http://www3.telus.net/NuclearWessels/sfc/downloads/NW_OPMissions.exe

The handful of new scripts are PvP-friendly variants on some of the standard patrols and assault missions.  In a PvP situation no AI gets generated (other than bases/planets/shipyards),  and in coop vs the AI you get either one or two enemy ships per human player (one larger or two smaller ones per "human").  The new scripts are:

Patrols (player, allied, and enemy space)
Met_NW5PatrolPlayer.scr
Met_NW5PatrolAllied.scr
Met_NW5PatrolEnemy.scr

Base and planet assaults
Met_NW7BaseStationAssPvP.scr
Met_NW7BattleStationAssPvP.scr
Met_NW7StarbaseAssPvP.scr
Met_NW9PlanetAssPvP.scr

Shipyard assault and defense
Met_NW8ShipYPvP.scr
Met_NW16ShipDefPvP.scr

As always, let me know about any bugs/annoyances!

Thanks Dave! I love NSIS.  :notworthy:

Aren't you all glad I brought it to the D2? ;) <toots own horn, pats self on back..>
Shiplist/Script/Mod Install System (http://www.dynaverse.net/forum/index.php/topic,16366374.0.html)
(I thought it was earlier than that though... there was no lzma compression available in it then however, just the convenience of a FREE installer with standard compression, FireSoul has certainly made the most of it since...)

Edit:
Here's my earliest mention of it, in a OP+ 2.2 corrections thread..  .. it's been a while.

So You are right. Your post is first.

I'm pretty sure I recall asking you to look at its use...

(check the OP2538 OP Plus 20030413 (http://members.fortunecity.co.uk/sfcfileman/OP2538_OP_Plus_20030413.exe) link, linked from the thread linked above... oh what a tangled web...)

Like I said though, you certainly made the most of it and have been kind enough to pass on what you have learned about it. You be the SuperPiMP master FS! ;)

In reward, I shall have to show you how to have component menus. ;)

Cool!  8) You read my mind, I was hoping you'd enlighten us there! (even though it must be in that awkward helpfile somewhere)

It is not explained with a "How-To" train of thought. problem is, I'm at work right now, trying to write tests to the perl code to get this to work:

      my $software = SomeThing::SomeThingElse::DBI::Software->search( module_name => $module_name )->next;

(some names cleared out to protect the innocent).

Hey, take yer time - paying work first!

If I got what you're talking about right:
Automating software testing is the way to fly man, A friend of mine up in Ottawa made a load of dough quick by automating the testing of their Y2K updates to the Canada Post mail readdressing system... the contract payed out for 6 months of testing - his app completed tests of his Y2K updates to the system quick, whole project done in 2-3 weeks with pay for 6-9 months!

Actually it looks like you're searching a database there? I haven't gotten into perl (yet?) so I can't be much help there.

You should ask for a raise! ;) And get back to work!  :P I say from the comfort of my time off... ;)

Does it again all right  ::) - I goofed a couple of the missions (encouraging your DD to draft exciting things like BB's ;D )

The installer has been updated to include the latest ones, or you can grab a mini installer with just the fixes:
http://www3.telus.net/NuclearWessels/sfc/downloads/NWOPFix.exe (456k or so)

sorry!

Got a host left, new host message just now with Stinky. We didn't spot any double weapon or double damage that we could tell from the F-DDG we engaged, but did spot something weird...
The DD trac'd one of my drones, then let go and trac'd again. Like hitting the C key 3 times fast. Not sure what to make of that one...
