Or worse, tired of always missing out on the few DN's available?

Well now we can have a DN (and BB) free D2, simply by using DN-B-Gorn.

But seriously remove the DN's and instead put in SSR's for the campaign with VC's for the DN battles, but those battles occur with the best (most stable) conditions for fleets that we can manage, and that is a GSA battle. Whoever wants to fly a DN can, they just have to put their name down for a DN battle, round up a DN class fleet and face the enemies fleet. I they lose their DN or retreat then they lose VC's.

Now this will have to be managed but should serve the purpose of having DN battles kept as a relative rarity, but open to anybody, without flooding the D2 with them.

Now what to do if the enemy doesn't want to put up a fleet? They lose VC's, because the DN got through to wherever it was attacking without a battle and pulverised the base or whatever without any opposition. As per usual a bit work will have to be done to lay out the GSA rules (as opposed to the D2 rules which there won't be).

I even see where one-off scenarios (missions) can be designed (4 CA's attack the BB and FF etc) as options (not compulsory but if both sides choose to accept that battle option then the GSA battle is played out.

Anyway what could be better for the infrequent player than a D2 where the biggest enemy will be a CC and most people are in line ships.

Sorry if they're dumb questions, but what's "DN-B-Gorn" and what's an "SSR"?

Who else thinks its time for Cleaven to run a campaign? Or pass a complete design (map, settings, VCs...) on to someone else to admin? I figure the result would probably be ground-breaking and fun!

Having just discovered my connection is now 500kbit up (instead of the 300 I thought it was) and my ISP actually encourages users to run gaming servers... I suppose I could if a better setup is not available.

thats one way to guarantee no DNs, give Shop Rex the credit card for that account.  Of course it would put many a husband in freighters..... ;D
