Duh, the answers were right in front of us the whole time while we keep scrounging around for new "wonderdrugs." Maybe I need switch from Prozac to Ritalin? Yeeehaaaaaaawwwwww.
That one month shot for alcohol abuse sounds promising until they perfect the gene therapy since they already I.D.ed the gene that causes people to want alcohol.
Hope everyone is doing well, and remember, vote for KERRY! We need to get all the Bush*t out of the White House and clean up our act!

I'm all for helping people with additions. However, I am leery of looking for drugs to cure addictions. I can see it now. People abusing drugs and other substances because "hey, I can take this and if I get hooked, all I have to do is take a little pill and I'm cured". The problem is that while they may be cured, it doesn't negate the harmfull things that were done while under the influence, before taking the drug.

They can help allot when you are first starting out.
I my self am a recovering alcoholic, (10 years sober) I took Anabuse when i first started and it really helped me not to relapse, the first 6 months i started.
It gives you time to develop coping skills and find a support group you can stick to,and work with.

Congratulations on 10 years sober Ravok. As I said, I don't dispute the fact that the medicine can help cope with the addiction and give a person the time to develop the internal tools to deal with it on their own.
Unfortunately I can see them being abused by people who would no longer fear becoming addicted and would take the drugs because they knew they could easily get off them if they wanted to.

Its hard for people who have not had an addiction to relate on how powerfull of a hold it takes on you.
You know what you are doing is wrong, and you want to stop. But your body and mind have other plans for you. :( :( :(
Any thing, to help stop the cravings, to get you well is a good thing.
I'm pretty sure this will only be available by perscription. So the risk of abuse can be minimized.
As with any drug, there is some idiot out there that will abuse it.
