My SFC3 game works, but ive messed it up. It says, when i try to uninstall it, It says: Could not open INSTALL.LOG file
PLEEZ HELP! :notworthy:
-
ouch.
Possibly a system restore back? (if you didn't install any other major stuff in between?)
-
Ooooo I feel sorry for you. System restory may work but I have little hope of it. Same thing happen to me on my laptop.
In short I recomend you back up your data and reformated. If it anything like my stystem was it problems are going to start coming up with stuff failing over the next few months. Big pain in the ass and I dont think you be able to get the game to install other wise.
Welcome to the world of making a quick buck. This game was not ready for market when it was released so it is full of nasty little holes including system corrupting bugs and you just ran into one

I would unistall it useing the game disk as there is an unistaller in it.You could also go into your game file and find an the uninstaller there or go to your control panel and select add and remove programs and remove it.There is another option just delete the game file the C:programs/Activision file and delete it.
I hope this helps.

problem is using the game disk is not going to work since it will not be able to find that log. Deleting it risky since you will not wll have trouble reinstalliing it. Maybe some with the game still on the computer can give him a copy of there install log and see if that will work. Just make sure ot tell him where to put it. I do remeber see one in the SFC3 folder.

It's Possible to do a Manuel Removal without the log. The Tricky part is also knowing how to use RegEdit. If your not used to looking things up in Regedit, then Don't try It at all. It can mess up your PC if you remove the Wrong thing.
Of course Deleting the main file is easy, It's just getting rid of every Instance in the Regestry that can be hard.

I tried doing that really before when I just deleted the stuff figure Screw it I dont want to go though the unistall. nope did not work. But I do think removing as much as you can mannly my able to "glitch" the uinstaller because none of hte file are there any more so windows willl remove the regiesty markers and stuff for you.can not promise you any thing though

See, when I have to do this, I Manually remove The calls in the Registry Myself. I know It's a pain in the Butt, But It does give you more control then having Windows try and Do It.

What is wrong with useing the uninstaller in the game file as there is one?Sirgod How do you manually remove them I know Pestalence said just delete game file when it is corrupted?
-
Essentially that Is It, However sometimes the Registry will Cause Problems. What I do is go to Start --->Run---> and type in RegEdit. Then I do a search for sfc or whatever, and Manually remove all instances that show up.
It's easy to do, However It's not the most comfortable thing also especially if you are not used to working in the Registry. One mistake, and It's Format reinstall time again.
