Okay, so after seeing my original release of this model done for Bridge Commander, and the unhealthy moaning about its quality (not sure why some people just don't understand it was made for Star Trek Armada originally), I decided to make a rebuild of my original mesh. The original ones poly count was around 800 which made it somewhat "boxy" and the textures were okay but a bit bland. Anyway, after seeking, andobtaining needed permission I got my hands on a model that was around 300k. This was an excellent base to create a much better set of textures which were far accurate. Anyway, this model is 3713 polys and uses 3 1024*1024 TGA texture maps. Anyway, if anyone wants to convert this to SFC3 (I think the BC version is being taken care of), then please give me a yell.

....and a second pic to show the underneath (nice to see I actually got the registry round the right way this time :D )
-
WOW now that is an improvment :o!!
Great stuff :D

I can probably port it over for you if you'd like.. what's the file format currently in? NIF or MAX?
-
Its currently in 3ds (considering that perhaps everyone who models has the ability to import it its the file format I generally use).

Awesome.. that'll make it easier. :D
Expect a PM with an email addy that should handle it..

Okay, it's converted and sitting in your Inbox now..
It's also scaled and detailed.. you now have illumination maps for it as well. These shots show how I've scaled it against p81's Intrepid for ingame goodness. ;)

wow i cant even strat to say how much this rocks how long before the release?
Whenever Maor Payne wants now.. ;)
I've asked permission to include it in "Generations At War", but don't know if it'll have time to make an appearance or not before v2 is ready..

You go right ahead matey. It'll be nice to see this in game anyway.
-
BUMP for a D/L link please
-
Could this be released in SFC2/OP format aswell? It looks very nice.
-
isnt it strage tho how that shuttle sized ship has more polies and textures then the intrepid u have pictured.
perhaps consider combing allt extures to a single 1024 at least. no one will EVER see it that close. might also consider chopping some polies that thing is gonna be 60% of the polies on my consititution everyone is complaing about at 6k.
for a ship thats a spec on the map u have 3800 polies and 3 1024x1024. youch!

Pneu. Thanks for the comment, but I won't be redoing this model again. Mind you. If someone wants to play with the model then they are more than welcome to do so. The textures, however, are another matter. I'll need direct contact for permission concerning altering them in any way, as it took me a while to get permission myself to make them.
As for your comment concerning your Conny. On that I would say if they want a lovely low poly version then they should make one. Both SFC and BC should be able to handle higher poly count models, as everyone knows and unlike, say, Armada 2, tend to rely more on eyecandy as theres less on screen at once. But then this is my opinion.

sont change a thing i like nice big textures a a good poly count makes it nicer to play with
Mabey release two versions... In game lower poly version with one texture map.... and a moddable kicking the as* out of it version ;D
-
well i was just commenting on what us ee on screen VS the resources used to render the model in real time. of course its your work and your welcome to do it any way u wish :) just an observation.
-
To be honest Pneu. When I did the original model I had a poor selection of textures. When I had the newer set of textures I thought they deserved a far better quality model. I never thought about the actual in game usage, but I assumed it wouldn't be a problem considering theres never many ships/stations on screen at any one time. Still, no matter. perhaps someone would build a shuttle based mod *hint*hint :)
