Has this been posted yet? Did a quick search on GoPets and did not see anything...

How very interesting.

Interesting, but nothing that I would really be interested in using. I can see how this could sell like hotcakes in the land of Pokemon and Tomigotchis though.
Kudos to Erik for being one of the 1% of game developers out there right now who are willing to take a chance instead of sticking with rehashed, tried-and-true stuff, brand-name expansions, and sequels.

A mighty HUH was heard throughout the land. Then again I don't get the Sim's either.

?? :help: ??
Well, ever since he gave that interview where he praised the game where you sit behind a counter and make sandwiches, I knew his next game would be..... different. I didn't quite realize it would be this different.
I've no interest, but I still wish him well with this venture. Maybe this will be the next Pet Rock and sweep the market. I'll cross my fingers for him.

That's exactly it, the pet rock anology is perfect. Odds are that this is a flop because of it's very extremely nonmainstream oddness. But if he catches a bit of cultural conciousness then who knows...

Sims do everything you should be getting off your fat ass to do to begin with!

Lordy, from SFC to this kiddy crap. Hope he's making money.

Gents, do any of you have (not so) little kids?
I have to drag mine off by their ankles from the Neopets site. Kids love it!
In my opinion, it's just a gimmick for big companies to acquaint kids with their logos and such and establish brand loyalty way (too) early on. I even overhear kids talking about it. Whatever happened to batting averages, why are the Enterprise's phasers blue one day and red the next, superheroes, and such?
-
How many people are going to pay for their kids to play online?
-
Neopets pwns... i used to play it... until it got repetitive (took about 3 years... sad huh?)
-
I'm.... speechless. :-\
I guess I wish him well, though.
-
Ah, Gambler, as an Asian guy, I can attest to the fact that the overseas Asians will pay for themselves to play on it, not their kids. In fact the ones I'm talking about either are too young to have kids or don't have them. We do know, f'rinstance, that the Japanese youth (and "not so youth") are into a totally different genre of games than we are over here.
-
I agree... and this will be a big hit with the Japanese ( if he translates it).
-
I'd be willing to play it if it were a free internet game, but I doubt I'd pay to play it. I can see it being a success in Japan, and some of the marketing ideas (like putting on a cell phone) seemed like a smart strategy, but its not really a game as much as a hobby.
-
For a lowel level logistics clerk, you have an astute eye! That's exactly what the problem at my house is! I've been treating my kids' indulging in Neopets as simply playing a computer game; I see! I see! It's a HOBBY to them! Well, as with any hobby, it must be regulated...
(Thank you sir!)

Don't tell them I gave you the idea ;)

They never mentioned the name of the company?

Its developer is GoPets, Ltd., a start-up based in the Korean capital of Seoul, which might be enough reason for some to dismiss the concept as too foreign.

And he went to Korea to do this?
Someone said before me
I'm speechless

Anyone else notice... "With your purchase you get this wondering gift..."
