In case you'd forgotten. The Enterprise Season Premiere is this Friday night.
-
I remember, I'm grabbing my Old Metal Pot to help Archer fight off them Pesky Alien Nazi's. ;)
Seriously, I'm glad SciFi channel shows Stargate and Atlantis twice on Friday nights. This way I can watch all three shows.

isn't Enterprise on at 2000? That woulld make it a nice lead in to the Stargate shows. And hat would mean you won't have to tape one and watch one.
-
I for one am having mixed feelings...I enjoyed last season, but I'm scared of that ending and watching a totally awful storyline...
-
I was afraid that somehow with my current work schedule that I had missed the premiere. I plan on watching it on Friday, but as far as I'm concerned this season is the make or break for me. If I don't like what I see by the middle of the season, I plan on washing my hands of the show and wait for the DVD release.
I just don't have the time anymore to sit through bad TV.

Am I the only one who thought that T'Pol was going to hug Archer when he walked back onto the bridge?

It's not looking good, folks. (http://www.trektoday.com/news/091004_03.shtml)
If the ratings are that low for the season premiere, it can only go downhill from there. If UPN is still committed to the show, they'll likely move it. If not, then it's finished.
-
To be fair, it aired along with the AL playoffs and a presidential debate.
I think we ought to see how it fares NEXT few weeks to get a more accurate view.
-
From what I read several months ago, Enterprise could have very sucky ratings and still last the season. Paramount dropped the cost to UPN of episodes way below actual production costs so they could get 100 episodes allowing syndication.
-
You know what? It's actually a pretty good show, the overdone time travel notwithstanding. As with TOS, it really is too cerebral in its background themes for the average viewer who wants see some fistfights, gunfire, smooches, hugs, romantic angles. I might be one of the vocal objectors to the time travel stuff, but at least it's something to think about that's out of the ordinary.
Selling it at below cost seems an insult.
-
It's not out of the ordinary anymore, because they always do it.
-
UPN showed the Yankee game friday night, don't trust those ratings.
I saw it today, man, Coto is excellent.
The show was interesting from start to finish, and they killed future boy!
The best part is, FB said if they win, NONE OF THIS WILL EVER HAVE HAPPENED!!!
Kiss the Xindi crap goodbye, and hello Captain Kirk!
-
Watching It for the second time tonight myself, aboput half way through it.

Stephen, folks, aside from the whizbang SFX, I enjoyed it more tonight the second time around. I normally don't do this, but if anyone wants to, meander over back to the General forum and check my comments over on NxAdam's Enterprise (followed by a mole of question marks) thread.
I thought I might have recognized the shadow of Harlan Ellison hovering all over the ep.

ARRRGGGHHHHH Ferret and I have to "tape" it on our Digital TVR. We got to the part where Archer and that beautiful woman hiding in the alleyway trying to get that green glowing thing to contact his ship when my DigiTVR stops! >:( >:( >:(
The thing is I didn't guess the time right, I try to get at least 10 min before the show and 10 min after, and well I missed taping like the last 5 min of the show . . . . So . . .
Could some nice and wonderful people tell us what happened? It's driving us nuts! Did that sexy lady get saved with Archer? <crying and beging>
-
Archer and the lady are in the alley, Archer trying to get the communicator to work. Nazi's and aliens come in from both sides. Major gun battle. Archer finally gets a communication from the ship. They raise their hands to surrender and voila', they're beamed up to Enterprise.
Archer goes up to the bridge, much joy all around. T'POl just has this totally shocked/relieved expression on her face. It looks like she's going to kiss him. But she doesn't.
Unfortunately now the Evil Alien Nazi's have Trip & Mayweather.
And that's the end.
-
aaaaaaaaaaaaa i want to see it ... dam it a hell ill find another way... i always do and hope the temprel war is going to end ... becose as much as i love the OD time travel episode this IMO is a bit much ... re writing trek history is not something that i can tolerate for very long ... hell i had anxiety attacks after iv see year of hell ... and it was in German cos the smart ones did not air voyager till very recently
-
I watched it.... and was moderately entertained.
However, I'll be glad when this "temporal war" arc is over.
Why?
1) We know how it will end. Timeline restored -> so nothing we see happen really matters
2) Nazis occupying the White House? Might have an emotional impact of the viewer IF we didn't know it would all "never happen"
3) Empathize with characters under Nazi occupation? Again, who cares? We know this will really have "never happened"
If you want action and eye-candy, this arc delivers. But that's it.
What made "City of the Edge of Forever" work was this: you cared for Edith Keeler, and felt for Kirk
Edith did not get "erased" from history. She existed in both timelines. She mattered.

I finally got to see part two of this season opener. Part one was pretty good in my opinion. Part two wasn't so bad, but I think the problem is in us; we the current crop of TV, movie, play, etc. viewers are spoiled and jaded. Even if something is good we demand spectacular or extra-superb.
Sounds like a pursuit of excellence, except that it really isn't possible to produce slam-bang great episodes of a serial all the time. Personally, I'll settle for solid and/or pretty good.
The Xindi arc was solid and good. It was ended well except for the shock scene at the very end with the (unbeknownst to us, from the future) alien in a WWII German uniform.
This mini time travel arclet with the future alien started out being quite entertaining: German Nazis in Brooklyn, WWII battle maps with German divisions posted all over the Northeastern states, and, "... you must have got away after it (the carrier Enterprise) sank... ", Mafia resistance fighters... all very cool.
I think the only problem with part two was that we already accepted all those disjointed pieces of unhistory, and then just waited for the inevitable climax with the good guys winning, sort like how the German officer put it on the transport pickup.
But, man, that scene with the Enterprise zapping Stukas (?, Messerschmitts?) with phase cannons over Manhattan! Priceless!

But, man, that scene with the Enterprise zapping Stukas (?, Messerschmitts?) with phase cannons over Manhattan! Priceless!
That was a cool scene. They could have used a few more PIII's for point defense though. Maybe just some ADD.
-
Ah, but in one ep from an earlier season, there was this black, powerful looking alien warship that had point defense. It popped the Enterprise's pathetic little missile like a slow gnat with some Ph3 type weapon. I vaguely remember there was some happy buzzing on the old Taldren boards after that.
I'd love to see a one-shot special with Daniels hosting a talk show with Vulcan(ian) Starfleet officers from all over time, including Spock, with T'Pol and Ol' Spocko fighting over who was the first one!
