What do you think about the Pats?
19 wins in a row... :D
Endorsed by Don Shula as a team that could go undefeated for the whole year (now a 19-game stretch)
And staring down the surging Seahawks...
Sure is a lot different from my old "They were 1-15. We expect them to lose" team from a decade ago... ;)
-
or from the 0-2 team that lost to the Bengals in '01? Yeah, no kidding. They're the epitome of what a 'team' should be, in my opinion.
-
SSSHHHHHH Don't jinx it.
I just hope the Red Sox can ride the wave right to the end.
-
Pats are a close as dynasty that a modern football team can get , I think we may a 50/50 shot at the superbowl.
I watched the Seahawks game, if the Seahawks sleep pn the Pats like that in the 4th quater, they will get dismantaled.

I think that was the 1-15 team that did that... Cause it was 91-92 when I was using the 1-15 season as my defense on-base...
Me, in NE Patriots shirt: "How did your football team (Vikings, Cowboys, Niners, etc.) do?"
Friend: "Lost. How about your team?"
Me: "Patriot's fan. After their 1-15 year, I expect them to lose."
Friend: looks clueless as there is no defense against that fact... ;)

I think a lot of what makes the Patriots the team they are is that they DON'T quit, they never stop. You might think that once you hit the 4th quarter that the game is all but over, but not against the Pats. They fight tooth and nail. I love it. Thats how the game SHOULD be played. Thats how my high school teams always were, and thats why we did so well. Nobody on our team had exceptional talent, but we weren't sucking wind after the 1st half of play either.

Hey, besides the Colts, who have they played?
Arizona 1-4
Buffalo 0-4
Miami 0-5
If they get thru the next 4 weeks undefeated, then you can talk about them being good.
Needless to say, I am not impressed with them.
They let Miami, a team with NO offense score 10 points on them.

Sorry couldn't resist...how about those Lions?
3-1 losing only to the best team in Football right now, the Philidelphia Eagles.
Sure none of their wins have been really pretty, but they seem to do what they need to do to win. Despite losing several key players early in the season. Im looking for Roy Williams to have a small part in the embarassement of the Green Bay Packers, and to see him starting in time to upset the Giants next week. ;D Kevin Jones hasn't done much yet, but after spraining his ankle against Philadelphia...I hope hes ready to start tearing up the yards the way he did for Virgiinia Tech. What about their run defense, containing both Donavan McNabb and Michael Vick. Showed that Vick isnt yet ready to be an NFL quarterback, maybe when he settles down and finally starts trying to throw the Football.
Anyhow...Im looking for a rout of Green Bay this week, line has them by 2, but I think its going to be much much uglier...shame I can't see it for myself. :(

How about them Eagles!

Hey, besides the Colts, who have they played?
removed due to being NFC
Buffalo 0-4
Miami 0-5
These 2 teams are divisional foes. Supposedly, the AFC East is the toughest division in football, though I think that distinction will be pulled after this year, because of them...

I think over 1/2 the games that the Pats have won in this streak weren't impressive, they were just in the right place at the right time. That's the impressive part about this
team, they make their own opportunities to win, instead of waiting for luck to give it to them. That, and they play the entire 60 minute game. Let's see how well it works for the rest of the season... ;)
They let Miami, a team with NO offense score 10 points on them.
That's to get Miami riled up for the rest of their AFC-divisional games. We don't want them playing Buffalo and NY thinking their complete losers now, do we... :D
-
ya you can bash miami, but really, buffalo isnt that bad of a team...its one of those 'records dont show the truth' thing...at least 3 of their games they've lost by 3 points or less, and in all of those they allowed no more then 2 TD's..the 4-0 jets BARELY beat them with a last minute field goal, after buffalo surged back from a 13-0 deficit...all in all, they arent that bad...miami is a lost cause though
Still, im a pats fan, so i love the way they're strugging to win games lol

A guy took his blonde girl friend to her firstfootball game. They had great seats right behind their team's bench.
After the game, he asked her how she liked the experience.
"Oh, I really liked it," she replied, "especially the tight pants and all the big muscles, but I just couldn't understand why they were killing each other over 25 cents."
Dumbfounded, her date asked, "What do you mean?"
"Well, I saw them flip a coin and one team got it and then for the rest of the game, all they kept screaming was: 'Get the quarterback! Get the quarterback!" Hel-LLLO!! It's only 25 cents!"

GO PATS!! mabey this will rub off on the Sox
-
One challenge down...
Now it's time to look at the Jets...
(oh, and Mentat, if past history is any guide, Boston / NE teams cannot sweep and win all games played on a given day. Since it's only the Sox / Pats today, then the Sox are doomed to fail... ;))

I was hoping that the Sox would, if they had to lose the series, at least take it to game 7. That way, the Sox / Yankees would have exactly split all the games they've played over the past 2 years.
But now, the Yanks will probably have a 3-win lead... :(
I'm already rooting for the Cards to win it all... :P
-
Im in that boat too it seems, anyone but the Yanks' ill root for the Cards too.
-
Holy crap we won. :o
Game 5 tonight.
-
Not only that, but we're taking them to the extremes again in Game 5...
Bottom 14th as I write this, and the one thing that might become key to this whole deal is Wakefield's resiliency, ie, his ability to pitch 9 innings of knuckleballs every day... ;)
-
This whole thing is just insane. Bottom ofthe 14th...jeeze.
-
Oh god, game 6 tomorrow night in NY! What a ride!
-
Holy crap 2! Ortiz does it again!
-
even if the Sox lose in NY tomarrow have we not been entertained? I kinda hope that the Sox pull it off, win 2 in NY, for me that would be BETTER than winning the world series.

Hmmm... hope you weren't to disappointed. Guess a pissed off Brett Favre is a tough challenge for any young team.
Here is hoping the Pack can find their defense for a couple more weeks to make it to the bye.

Dissapointed...Yes. Surprised...not really. Detroit's secondary has been gutted by injuries the last few weeks, and without Roy Williams, Harrington is just plain aweful. I've never been impressed with Joey, but it's only his third year, I can cut him some slack. But if Roy Williams is the only guy he can hit on a consistant basis, I think that says something about Williams, and a lot about Harrington. Any way, Until Detroit gets a better ground game (Kevin Jones may or may not be that answer) and a consistant Quarterback (I don't think Harrington is cut out for the NFL, but I've been wrong before, this year will be the year to tell) they will be consigned to a medicore year (which based on the last three years is a definate improvement ;D)
**Edit- Maybe the call for Brett Farve's retirement is a bit Premature. He knows how to win games, and if you give him a chance, he'll find a way to do it.
