Just noticed my hotmail space limit was upped to 250 MB, yay! ;D
-
Netscape did the same last week. Go figure.

and gmail still beats them. Go Gmail!!

I'm sure that even though Gmail isn't open yet, all the other email services are feeling the pressure and have to up their space limits to keep suit.

There's something creepy about it... can't quite put my finger on it...

I agree... email space has been declining over the last few years, yahoo in their infinite wisdom actually decided to make a free service, a paid one when they removed support for yahoo mail in Outlook Express unless you were paying a customer. I am sure hotmail used to be larger than 1MB.
And now all of a sudden 250MB for a free account?? The defies the laws of the economics, lol.

That is my guess as well. Yahoo upped their storage to 100mb a while ago also. I believed at the time that they were scared that gmail would steal all their user away whenthey went live unless they could give current users enough of an incentive to stay.

I checked how big the attachments you can send and it is upped to 10megs... IMO that is still too low.

What type of person keeps 250 megs of emails? or even 100 megs? The most I've ever had was something around 8 megs, and that's because I just didn't d/l a couple of attachments for a while...but overall...Wow...

Its more of a record book really. Its not that you NEED to keep them, its that its convenient. Gmail also has a really great front end and search feature to trudge through your e-mails instantly. Very nice.
