From Trek Web (http://trekweb.com/articles/2004/12/22/41ca0265d9026.shtml)
Could Malcolm Reed be the founder of Section 31?

The Mirror Universe has always fascinated me! :)
RB, if you haven't seen this (http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/093028996X/qid=1103776561/sr=1-2/ref=sr_1_2/104-2739798-9420764?v=glance&s=books) you may want to pick it up...IMO it offers a very good explanation as to the origin of the Empire.

a.) Very non-canon and out of date
b.) It's about to be wiped out by this new episode.

I forgot to add: c.) Contradicted by Star Treks IV, V, and VI
and
d.) I never really cared for much of the old series comics

I was fond of the 'Early Voyages' comics, or whatever, that Marvel put out the last time they got the license. Capt. Pike and crew.

Now, in reference to the Section 31...er...reference, I've read a post by Morpheus (an insider at Paramount who's very reliable) at the Trek BBS that states that it's only Malcolm referring to "section 31 of the Starfleet manual" as to why he did something that Archer thought was too extreme.

Do you All remember the Gold Key comics of long long ago. I might still have One laying in storage here.
