OK, its USS for Federatiom, RSE for Roms etx, but as I don't know much about the other races, can someone give me the prefix designators used to name Lyran, Gorn, Tholian, ISC etc ships...
Thanks :)

Well It's IKV for Klingon Ships, HMS for Hydran ships. thats two I know about.
-
Romulans- RIS (Romulan Imperial Starship)
Hydrans- HMS (His Hydran Majesty's Ship)
Lyrans- Ships are named by County, i.e. Red Claw Revenge, but I'm not sure of the abbreviation before it.
Kzinti- KHS (?Kzinti Hegemony Ship?)
Those are the only ones that I have any clue about.
-
Let's see how many of these I remember, lol...actually it was easier to just go check the ADB discussion boards, heheh.
Federation: USS (United Space Ship)
Klingon: IKV (Imperial Klingon Vessel)
Romulan: RIS (Romulan Imperial Ship)
Kzinti: KHS (Kzinti Hegemony Ship)
Hydran: HMS (Hydran Majesty's Ship)
Gorn: GCS (Gorn Confederation Ship)
Tholian: TDFS (Tholian Defense Forces Ship)
ISC: CSS (Concordium Star Ship)
LDR: RSS (Republic Star Ship)
Lyran: As noted above, Lyran ships are named by county/duchy, such as the Red Claw Duchy Ship Glory.
That covers most everybody.

I read on a modeling site that Klingon actually use IKS and IKC meaning Imperiel Klingon Ship and Imperiel Klingon Cruise. This is the neutral zone starship database.

What is their basis for that claim?

Age,
That has nothing to do with SFB or SFC, and that was what was in question here.
THe Klingons in SFB DO have two seperate designations for their ships, but they relate whether the ship belongs to the DFS (Deep Space Fleet)- the Imperial Navy, or the ISF (Internal Security Fleet)- the Klingon Empire's Police Force.
-
you also got:
IFS: Imperial Frax Starship (I think)
ARG: Andorian royal guard
Borg don't get one
Ferengi have one...but I cannot remember...as do the Cardassians
SCS: Sheliak Corporate Ship
Dunno on the Vulcans...they should have one
Mine Are:
KIN: Kryptonian Imperial Navy
Hellion Legion (but they don't mark thier ships...lol)
-
Yes but how many Sheliak ships are you lilkely to see? There's been 1 in the whole show. And that was an upsized kitbash of the merchantman freighter.
-
I know Jay but this is the modeling forum afterall and I got it off a modeling site.

Aye thats correct...but don't forget that was a colony-ship and the feds where worried about a full scale war...they must be really bad A$$es if the feds are worried about war. In any case I think that I could design some good ships for the formless xenomorphs...it it needs to happen :)

...can I say, it needs to happen...

ok quick note on ISC ship, taking a look at sfc2 shipnames, ISC use the class designation (DD, CVA, BBZ, FF, etc.) then a number after a dash and possibly a name

ISC ships don't have christened names.
They only have numeric designations. The crews will osmetimes nickname a ship, though this practice is supposed to be discouraged among the Fleet.
