We plan on going live this weekend and I promise not to do anymore downloads until the final is ready.
A LOT of changes have bee done from the stock and even Modded OP+ game. All races have both fighters and PFs and the fighterlist has been redone to emulate the Stats of SFB fighters (I'll hopefully have all the specs printed tonight).
I don't want to be held responsible for anyone sh*tting their pants the first time they see Plasma-F fighter dump on their nose at Point Blank range (Hexx). Please familiarize yourself with these changes.
Dizzy got medieval with the new bases. Bases will be destructible on this server so dizzy made them a LOT tougher than the stock OP+ bases.
You are not going to take out a full starbase with 2 Drone CLs on this server, it simply will not happen. All races have the ship that can blow up bases, I strongly recommend everyone experiment and determine what combos can be used for fixed-installation assaults. RM, use some of your BP/CP point to build ships for this purpose. You will be screwed if you don't.
-
Actually a question about CP points.
Does anyone really object if the Lyrans can use CP point to convert CL hulls to something
just a little bigger?
I mean it IS SFB historical..
-
In F&E a CL > BC conversion is a 6 point major conversion which can only be done at the homeworld shipyard.
Sorry. ;D
-
Well the Lyran will be okay. Grand Overlord Hexx is taking care of everything.
<takes another Prozac>

Grrr
well we don't have to base it "entirely" on SFB stats..
How about if you survive a PVP in a Panther it's automatically converted to a Wildcat? ;D

Well that sounds fair ;D

You might be on to something. Maybe not for this server, but what if you set conversions based on the amount of time in ship?
For example: In order to get an F-CVS+, you have to fly it as an F-CA+ for X amount of years and then get it converted?

Actually I like the idea.. but the record keeping would be insane.
Still I'm sure some of us are insane enough to try.
Plus think of the history you could actually have with one ship.
"Yep, I flew the Panther for the longest two turns of my life before I was allowed to turn it into a BCP, then after a year got the upgrade.
Eight years later it was upgraded to a BCH, then a year after that they put the mechlinks on."
It would be kinda cool to see who coul keep a ship the longest
EDIT -Although I'm not actually sure if the Hellcat was converted from a Wildcat or was a new conversion.
Go figure I picked up Module C and it hasn't got the best ship.
(I'm assuming it's in R3?)

When does it officially start ?

How do you keep a canuck in suspense?

It had better damn well start Friday night.
Shop Rex is heading to South Carolina for a little shopping trip with her buds and will be away until Sunday night. Also, I was thinking of taking a few day off next week so as to have a tad more time to KILL!!
Anything else will be unacceptable to Lyran High Command!

i am d/l this i write this. i will try to get on tonight or whenever i feel lucky enough to try it. ;D

Yup saw that. Interesting thought. I'm working on my prototype OoB interface now which may yet lead me to the elusive and arcane shipcachevector blob, (I'm down to the third layer of code in the kit which MIGHT explain how it works...).
Conversions and trade ins will require knowledge of the shipcachevector blob (how many times have I said that? - at least 50...) time to do it... if I can just figure out what all of this "SAW" code in the kit is all about.... it is used whenever a data table is required (vector array) just need to find its logic...
I could currently automatically monitor ship ownership - would be a bit tricky but doable - I just need that shipcachevector blob to do anything with it.
The shipcachevector blob, shipcachevector blob, shipcachevector blob, shipcachevector blob, shipcachevector blob, shipcachevector blob, lalalalala!!! The shipcachevector blob!!!! Once I have it: off-server account creation, trade ins, refits, conversions, purchases without auction.... I keep getting side-tracked, plus anytime I look at that damn blob again I am daunted by this sinking feeling that it will never make sense... hopefully I'll find the time to stare at it some more soon. I'll never understand why the serverkit data is so heavily encrypted, just makes no sense at all.
-
Did anyone else just get a boner? :o
-
*takes one step away from DieHard* ::)
-
DH has a thing for blobs.
-
Lol, blobs and toasters... gotta wonder about that boy...
I am pretty excited about the OoB interface though, I have all the framework setup - code to load an entire OP+4 compliant shiplist into D2 SQL db format in its own table, ready to be copied into the server shipyard (and counted) I just need to write the part that limits the actual number copied into the server db according to production availability and role. Shouldn't be too tricky. Then I have ships set to remain in the shipyard indefinitely (will need a YLA reaper later) and auctions set to last 24 hours. (the idea eventually is weekly builds done by the RMs themselves) I'm dying to fly in a ship produced this way...

When does it officially start ?
It had best be starting Friday night if not before.
Give us all day SAturday to wipe up the ISC, then2 or 3 full
weeks to play with the Feds & the wanna-be Feds.
-
Can we start it after Battlestar Galactica?

The coolest thing is that I just happen to have this weekend off :D
PH34R, for my CLD has your ship targeted
