Yo.
Don't know how many of you remember me -- I was a regular at the Taldren SFC forums way back in the day, and from my rather youthful pen came such travesties as Shadows of the Sun and an assortment of other unfinished fables. To be honest, I'd completely forgotten about this place until I saw Kieran's screenname pop up on my buddy list, which brought back a whole bunch of memories. Needless to say, I couldn't resist coming back.
It's good to see the old crew still alive and kicking: La'ra, Kadh, Lara, Smithy, Scottish Andy, Rat Boy, Frey, and Hstaphath of LotR fame (if I'm forgetting anyone, blame my questionable memory). There's lots of names and stories I recognize, and a bunch of new ones that I don't -- which, come to think of it, is quite good times indeed. I've got quite a bit of reading to do!
I'd like to start writing Trek fanfiction again, especially since I've recently gotten back into the whole science fiction scene; it'll really be fun to take this old Vulcan back out into the galaxy for another spin. There's a lot of things I'd like to do with his character that I wasn't able to do the first time around, and hopefully this time I'll be able to put together a complete, coherent tale. :)
I'm not sure how much time I'm going to have in the near future, but hopefully I'll be able to get something up shortly. And if not -- well, that's nothing new for me, is it? XD

Great to see ya' back, Tasky! Look forward to anything you post.
-
Bloody hell, Vulcan, you beat me to it. =D
Basically, what S said applies for me too-- for those of you that are new to the boards and don't know me, I'm an old veteran from the Taldren boards, and I've been on hiatus for about a year now. I wrote such mediocre tales as Richthofen's Hegemony, The 13th Echelon, and What Price, Honor? I've been really busy the last few months, with basic training and getting myself settled into college, but now my life is starting to settle downnow. I've actually been lurking here since December, reading everybody's new stuff, just not posting or anything. I've been flirting with the idea of bringing K-Fo back in a new story for a few weeks now, but nothing concrete emerged until last night when we ran into each other on AIM. All I'm going to say is that S and I have a project in the works. XD Hopefully my writing's improved enough that it will be an enjoyable one.
It's good to see everyone, and it's good to be back. Hopefully I'll have something to share with you soon-- that's not literary crap. XD
-
Welcome here laddies. Unfortunatly we cannot have drink a beer together (only digitally which sux) but i look forward of reading your tales. Any chance you guys gimme some links / repost so i can re-read the old ones again?
-
Well, the only place my stuff was up was the old Taldren boards, which are of course no more. Besides, the only stuff I've written that is even slightly worthy of being reposted(i.e. does not totally suck crap) is my contributions to Smithy's 24th century Andro invasion, as well as What Price, Honor? Neither one is complete, and right now I am not considering WPH as an 'official' K-Fo tale until I can revise it, due to other revisions I've made to my background history and timeline, as well as the fact that even those two woulf require minor rewrites before I would feel comfortable reposting them. Although, I might try writing a short story or two to get myself back into writing before I embark on any grand projects, but that's all up in the air until I can figure out how much time I can safely devote to writing, what with being in college and all.

Stasik
IIRC, you were going off to school. Is that right? How did that all turn out?
-
Stasik, I remember your fiction quite well. I enjoyed reading it and look froward to more
-
You were a very good writer then, and I can only imagine you've improved since.
In addition to your trek fiction, you wrote excellent Harry Potter stories as well - I daresay better than Rowling's, though she laid the foundation for them.

Yo! Good to see so many familiar faces around town. ^^
Back when I hung around the Taldren boards regularly, I think I was around 13 or 14; now, I'm a senior in high school beset by the administrative hell that is the college application process. It's late February now, so I should be okay, but for a while I thought I was about to go insane. Higher education is cool and all, but man if it doesn't take a chunk out of your free time. On the bright side, I've already gotten what qualifies as a virtual acceptance at one of my top-choice schools, so now I've finally gotten the opportunity to chill -- and, more importantly, write.
Like K said a couple of days ago, we've been working assiduously on a new project that involves the combined creative forces of a slacker in college and a slacker in high school. It's based around a storyline we hammered out years back, and over the past few days we've been trying to refine the plot to make it less ridiculous and (hopefully) more interesting. With any luck, the prologue should be posted very soon, though I hesitate to give a definitive date of completion; however, if all goes according to plan, we'll have a long and fascinating narrative for your reading pleasure. There will of course have been some changes made to old, familiar S'Tasik in order to bring his background in line with something slightly more realistic, but in general, I hope this new story will be reminiscent of our old stuff -- just with better writing. =P
Glad you guys enjoyed my previous stuff, Trek and non-Trek alike. With any luck, this new project will make Shadows of the Sun pale in comparison, an admittedly simple task indeed. :D
-
Hey, Sethan! Another one of the old guard rears his head. Great to see you even if you're just popping in.
That said, you don't happen to have any inclination to start writing again, do you?

STasik, where are you thinking of going to school?
-
Wheeeee, karma for the Vulcan. Good times.
-
Just so everyone knows, it's Pointy we're waiting on. Not me. My chapter's written. Can't post it though until the prologue is posted, though, and that's his project.
:D
(Just kidding with you, S)
But it really is his fault though.
;D

Well I'll be. What's up Ears? I haven't been doing much myself lately, what with back to back deployments to Iraq and all. Been trying to finish some stories and all, been playing a lot of Halo and KOTOR and Lord of the Rings Games. LIving a semi single life in San Diego right now, and hope to have more stuff posted on Scottish Andy's site soon. Take care brother.
-
Zim! Back from the sandbox, finally, are you? Good to see you came out of it intact, and we all hope you won't have to go back anytime soon.

This is just a regular old reunion!
-
It's great to see you're all back!
-
S'up zim! I haven't talked to you in way too long -- I'm glad you've come back to SD safe and sound from Iraq. Looking forward to reading your new stuff on that site!
Iceman -- man, haven't seen you in ages as well. It's like we've got all the old Quicksilver crew back together again (yeah, who remembers that old beast?)... ;)
...hmm. Speaking of Quicksilver, it would be really cool if we could get that collaborative thing started again...
-
Don't you have enough on your plate already? ;D
-
No kidding right? One at a time boy one at a time!
-
Oh No!! Someone said Quicksilver. Agghghghghghghhh. Hey everybody.
-
Heh, it would be nice if we could make a fanfic forum renaissance happen, with all these writers coming back and everything.
Now if Smithy would pop up, the gathering would be complete...
-
Weeeeelllllll, now that y'all mention it, I do still have Quicksilver kicking around on disc. Never did get it finished, did we.......?
-
you know, i would at least like to see it posted, if not actually finished. Just to have a nice blast from the past, as it were.
I don't have it on hd, but zim does... zim, if you would be so kind? ;D
-
I've got a copy also, but I'll let Zim do the honors.
-
Heck, it doesn't matter to me who posts it, as long as it gets posted.
-
Hey, I'll post it this evening, as I go to the public library for wireless access on the lappy. My dial up from the barracks blows.
-
That'll be great, Zim!
-
Oh dear, what can of worms have I opened? I don't have a copy of my Quicksilver posts on my hard drive, but I think it's safe to say that my posts for that little project contained some of the worst writing I've ever done. Still, I find myself morbidly curious as to what piratical nonsense I could possibly have come up with at the tender age of 14...

Meh, you say that about just about every past project that you were involved in. ;D
-
Er.....Looks like the Quicksilver Collaboration is not on my hard drive, but never fear. Being the paranoidal backer-upper that I am, I know that all of the fan fics that I d/l'ed at one time or another are on a CD at home. Going back up the hill this weekend (commuting sux) and will bring it back down wit me so's I can do a re-post, and thanks to all for the honors.
-
Hey guys,
I'm back too (for a little while at least). Been busy getting my first Canadian job and learning C++ and stuff, but it's left me kinda delinquent on my site and back here, as I've been away for months.
But, that's me finally getting my life in order now instead of lodged in a damn holding pattern which had been getting to me lately. So, I think I'll start hanging out with you guys again! Especially as a lot of the Old Guard are crawling out of the woodwork once more! *grin*
I've also started building missions for SFCII:EAW v2.0.3.6, and waiting to hear back from La'ra if they work on his version. If anyone wants a mission built, let me know and I'll see what I can do! (if anyone's still playing EAW, that is... grumble)
I was just wondering if you lot wanted me to post my stuff here, or if you visit my site at all. I have to admit, I'm kinda keen to put up "Aftermath" here to get some feedback on it, and I'm sure Jaeih'd feel the same way about her own "First Steps".
Anyway, a bit of a long-winded re-intro of myself, but it's good to see the lot of you here too. Just trying to comment on everyone before I hit the sack tonight!
-
Good to see you back here, Andy! I must say it feels kind of strange to be considered part of the Old Guard, but hey, it's good to see so many familiar faces around again. I definitely want to see what you've got up your sleeves, and the same goes for Jaeih as well...
-
Andy, good to see you! I have been checking out your site, it's the one place where I can find all of your, Jaeih's, and La'ra's old stories. Although we'd love to see you post your stuff here as well.
-
Thanks, Tasky, K-Fo. Maybe I will
-
Now if Smithy would pop up, the gathering would be complete...
Someone mention my name?
-
Hey Kadh,
Any way you could repost Quicksilver for us, should you get a chance?
Can't wait to cringe when I see how badly I wrote back then. ;)
