I have never been able to get SFC:OP to run on a resolution higher than 800x600. Is this a common issue?
I'm running a compaq presario 5000 series (5108us)
1.2 GHz
384 megs RAM
64mb NVidia Geforce 4 GPU
Windows XP professional

It might help if you Enzini as you can set the resolution on it.Go here to get although the site might be down but it does come up and keep on checking if it is down click the little ship at the bottom of the site and it is in there or you could get the Enhacement Pack 3.0 located in the Dynaverse 2 forum.

You might as well want to go into your control panel settings and display and set the screen resolution to what you want mostly 1024x768 16 or 32 bit.I believe it is in the advanced tab.I hope all this helps.

Be sure that your desktop resolution is equal to or higher than the game resolution.

When you say "never been able to", I'm not sure if you mean the game won't work at a higher resolution, or if it resets itself to 800x600
I *seem* to recall that the setup utility in OP was bugged, and that anytime I set it to larger than 800x600 it would revert on its own. If I opened the ini file and manually adjusted the screen size, however, then I could play any (sane) resolution that I wanted.
Get the EZini utility that Age suggests and give it a try. That is the easiest way to "manually" make the adjustment.

I've only recently put XP pro on my computer, before now I was running Win Me, and thought that my resolution issue stemmed from Win ME. The problem is as you describe it, I go into the setup utility, set it up for a higher resolution, and while the game DOES work, it will still not go above 800x600 resolution.
I'll give that utility a try when I have a chance.
