Title: Nameing Contest for The new arivals to this world
Post by: Khalee1 on March 19, 2005, 11:52:29 am
One of Stephens dogs had 5 puppies last night,(the final count)  at least the first three are females, she wont let me pick up the other two to find out what they are, and Stephen is gone right now.

But I know how some like to name babies reguardless so help name his Puppies. ;D

Four names do jump to mind.

1/ Which ever is most affectionate and playful - Alien

2/ Put a rolling pin on the floor, whichever investigates is Kim.

3/ If one barks in a unusual way it must be Tracey

4/ The fourth would of course be Astarte (if there is a fourth)

5/ If there is a fifth female of unusual coloring it must be Kroma.

I think the breed should be mentioned as well as the sex of the puppies to get better ideas for naming.  But offhand the name Dogmatix comes to mind   ;)

Well more sad news lost another puppy yesterday, and it looks like might loose another one today. Poor little thing just does not want to nurse, and it's momma has been trying everything to get it to nurse. And it's the one I was wanting I named it Squeekers. :(

Well looks like squeekers is trying to nurse again, as long as you put her right next to one of her nipples that is. I sure hope she makes it.

Father encountered similar with a calf at my granduncle's farm when he was younger. His solution was to get an old 6oz coke bottle, fill it up from mommacow and shove it down the calf's throat.
Didn't take long for the calf after that to acquire the taste and run to momma on his own along with the other newborn calves...

Well a dog is a bit differant than a cow, And I dont think it would set still long enough for me to milk it. Espicialy sence she tried to bite my arms off a little bit ago, Just from me trying to keep her from setting on one of her puppies. :D

And the two big ones are starting to bully the little one, they keep trying to push her out of the way so she can't feed.

True, but a small enough container like a toy syringe and you can feed the pup by hand until it's strong enough...

That and baby formula or concentrated milk to help get it by while it is having trouble feeding.  Of course once you hand rear it it will think that you are its mommy.   :)  Mommy  Khalee

You can get a nursing formula at a store like Atwoods (which I know they havein OKC).  It's like a Wal-Mart and a feed store combined.
