My favoritist plane in the whole wide world is the Grumman F6F Hellcat. It was a WWII fighter, the original "topgun" plane, and a direct ancestor of the f-14. There are only a handful in the world right now that are still flight capable (out of 12,272 produced), so I was REALLY lucky to get a photo of one as it did a low fly-by behind my house today.
Coincidentally, the one that flew by looks alot like the die cast model that sits on my dresser:

Is that a river lake or ocean in the background? Which one is it?

It's a little of both. It's lake Orono, with the Elk River running through it.
-
That's interesting. Where do you live Clark?

I'm up here in minnesota, doncha know, about 40 miles NW of minneapolis.

I just pulled up a map of lake Orono. That looks very pretty! Do you fish or swim in it? Do you own a boat? It looks like you live in a really cool area!

How many feet of snow do you guys have? LOL

BTW that's a nice model of a F6F. Who made it? Dragon Wings?
-
Pretty 8) atleast it is Navy.

Actually, not alot right now. Most of it melted over the last couple weeks, only the big snow drifts and plow piles are left. Spring is on it's way!!
The model is an air signature. Can't find the box right now, so don't remember anything more than that.

All of these have or do fly through my back yard. Of course my back yard is under the approach to one of the largest runways east of the Mississippi.
I took all of these with a 300mm 2.8 and either a motorised Nikon F2 or F3

Cool! What was the PBY doing there? That's the rarest of your pictures.
-
PBY's are indeed rare. Hard to believe, considering how many there once were.
-
Here's another of the PBY. It was just passing through. I also have on film but not scanned (yet) 2 different B17's, P47 razorback. several P51's, an FG1, B24, B52, P3, PT19 and much more and most of the modern inventory.
-
The A-10 looks like it's on the ground?
Is that a C-5 or C-17, I can never tell the difference, but I know it has something to do with the tail and size I think.
Cool Pictures.
-
Wait a minute...
Where are the pieces of yarn holding them up in the air??
fraud I tell you, fraud...
-
C5A is much larger than the C17 and does not have winglets. As for the yarn, it took me hours in PS to get rid of it ;)
-
I would LOVE to see the FG1 and P47B!

See, what did I say? a great shot!!
-
Very cool! Now we need to add a A6m3 for the Hellcat to shoot at and some tracers!
-
How about an inovator??
-
One of my accounts flew the B47 back in his USArmy Air Corps/Air Force days.
He likes me b/c I was the only one to ever come into his office and correctly identify the B47 and then proceed to ask him about it.

...And here I thought this was somehow going to be related to your 'bewbie' fetish....
:D

Don't get me wrong, here.... I dig pretty girls as much as the next guy. (OK - Maybe not quite as much as Diehard but, like, alot, hey?) I just try to supress my baser instincts in polite company. :o
-
And who ever suggested the idea that we were polite company?
