I changed the line in my sfc.ini file to:
TacDisplayRes=50
and they still don't show up.

Do you have games saved that are from prior to the modifications you made to the arc? Hate to say it but you might have to remove them to another file (even old auto saves). Also did you enter the new values correctly? IOW are the arcs in your spec file legal arcs or did you use old values like the SFC I, II and OP ones that are not valid in SFC III? Hope this helps.

I don't mean to sound insulting, but I did of course doublecheck the obvious already. The weapons fire in game, which is a clear sign that they are typed into the defaultCore.txt file correctly. The problem is, the little circular "pie piece" icons don't show up in either the vessel library or the tactical display in tactical games.

If I remember right, I heard someone say that you could actually create any kind of weapons arc you wanted, and they would function as designed, but the visual arcs were only supported by the few that the game used in it's stock format. So, if you are using something other than the predesigned arcs then you will run into trouble.

Thats ok. No worries. I just out line things I knew could be a problem. I assumed from the beginning that you had checked at least some of those points given your SFC modding background. From your post though, I could glean nothing of your troubleshooting procedures so I decided to exclude nothing from the limited set points in my post.

You are doing nothing wrong. The new arcs have no art and will not show up
in vessel library or in the ship systems display. They are officially intended
for bases only.
Thanks,
Dave

Jeez Dave, you have become my oracle of sorts! If I could sit in a room with you for 20 minutes, it could save me WEEKS of hard knocks!

Where are those graphics at? If they are in the sprite file can the SFC sprite file be swapped with the SFC II sprite file? We know no one can open the sprite file yet but if they are interchangeable it wouldn't matter so much. just a passing thought...
