Good, there is still time to reprogram it with the instruction "remember, be nice to the carbon units, ok?"

On that note, how far would Television signals travel before losing all coherency?

TV signals are just electromagnetic radiation. Since we are picking up the same frequency signals from other GALAXIES that are hundread of billions of LY away...

Well, YOU decide. ;)

It depends. Electromagnetic waves are strange things. Due to certain circumstances they can travel much greater distances than they normally would.

We're using radio telescopes to listen to everything from Binary Stars to super novas. Of course, all these events happend millions of years ago, and have a power output 1,000,000,000,000,000,000 times greater than any TV signal man has ever broadcasted.

In millions of years if someone with the right equipment was paying attention, and exactly the right conditions existed...they might detect our first TV signals.

I wonder what they'll make of I love lucy.

... or Churchill.

Remember, our best and worst wind up on TV. REally, if they want an accurate view of the best and worst of humanity- well, till Vietnam, anyway ::) - it'll be a pretty good way to find out what they are dealing with.
