Title: What is a plasma Carronade?
Post by: IndyShark on June 18, 2005, 10:19:11 pm
I was reading some old SFB materials and came across the Gorn plasma carronade. I understand it is very useful against cloaked ships, but not so against non cloaked ships.

Can anyone explain what a carronade is and how it works? Is there any chance we can mod it into SFC?

Thanks

Carronades were on old tall sailing ships mounted on the sides of each deck and they had small versions as well for and aft. These were used for close quarters when approaching an enamy ship. They might be referring to smaller plasma mounted launchers in the for anad aft section on Gorn ships so when approaching a Rom ship cloaked you could open fire similiar to t bomping them and there would be flash.I don't think this could be modded as plasma is seeking weapon not direct fire.

Carronades were a variant of the plasma-f torpedo.  They did less damage than the standard torpedo and had a maximum range of 5 hexes.  Basically they were to allow Gorn ships to hit a cloaked Romulan for a little  damage every turn.
