Yup I'd love to build an entire Dominion fleet with ships in all of the roles that we have in the other races, but they're aren't many designs. Any and all design contributions would be gratefully received! I think I'll make another thread asking for them.

Why not try converting the Homeworld SOA mod dominion ships? There are like 20+ ships, and there all different.

I've tried to get the SOA ships before unsuccessfully - does anyone have them? I can convert them myself - I just need the models and textures. I really like some of the designs - I can rebuild them at higher poly count etc...

Because we can do them ourselves?  :p

To get the soa mod go here. http://jstonline.homeworldarchives.com/ All you have to do is use winbig to "un-big" the file, like unzipping, then use 3dexploration or deepexploration and save the files from peo to 3ds, this also converts the lifs to bmp. Simple.  ;)

Yes, but starblazer, you're ignoring the fact that we don't want people converting our stuff willy-nilly.   :-\  (No offense to Smiley intended there, BTW.)  And, even if we did, we certainly wouldn't want them to convert the HW ships, when better versions for conversion are available.  So, could you please stop telling people to do it?   ::)

I don't really have any interest in converting them, I'd simply like to get a look at the models to get some inspiration for other classes of vessel (i.e. freighters, auxillary craft, mid-strength craft) - I haven't seen any screen shots but personally I get more out of being able to move a model around and look at it from different angles than a render.
TBH I think that this info should have been PM'd to me though.

Well, you're certainly welcome to do that.  :)  And I really need to actually get to work on those conversions one of these years...  ;)

Right well my ISP (Tiscali) has fudged up my net connection at home and it will be down for at least another 2 days so I can't post any pics, but the mesh is finished and last night I began the texturing.

Thanx starblazer...just got Homeworld from the bargain bin at EB games ($4.99 USD) and been wondering about tools for modeling and such...I'm with Smiley, don't want the actual models but that viewer should help with ideas. ;D

Sorry about the crappy render - I don't exactly have the tools for this at work - Tiscali now say that it will be at least 7 working days from today (Tuesday) until they repair whatever has happened at the telephone exchange to our line. So no Internet for ages then :(
By then I will have been offline for over 3 weeks!!!

Looking good, there...  :)

It just struck me... The inner pair of nacelles remind me of a combination between a K'T'inga-class cruiser and a refitted Constitution-class Starship, with the outer pair resembing those of a Sovereign-class's nacelles, and the forward section of the hull like a giant Vor'cha-class cruiser's "head".  It's also reminicent of a sci-fi fighter craft that was introduced in a first-person shooter game ten years ago...

In any case, nice job.

Edit: I should remember to pay attention to the picture again...  I should've realized the engines were all the same... It looks like something from the Constitution-class refit and K'T'inga-class if you view the engine from the top-side, but not in most any other angle on viewing it...

Very nice, but it looks a little too blue to me.  I think it should be more purple-ish.
