Much better then the stock Orions. ;)

Thanks, as always guys. It's amazing to me how much better these models look when you strip out the B&W 256 textures and add some 1024's with some drawn in details and color. The meshes are so low poly, which was a necessary evil when for the stock game, that there's very little details on the actual models.
It's been a learning experience doing them. I'm working on the Neutral starbase that KF requested now, to complete the pirate mod.

Who would have thought that a crappy mesh could look so good with a new set of clothes?
-
I agree...
VERY nicely done !

That's pretty mean looking there, rod...

A model is only as good as the textures painted onto it. These (and the others in the series) certainly breath new life into old ships.

Outstanding work Rod, is that the Star of David on the ship ? Suddenly...."Jews in space" from History of the world just popped into my head :P

Ya know, I've thought about making those Star-of-David ships from that Jews in Space segment at the end of History of the World Part One.

MP, you kill me. ;D
Actually, that's the tractor array. Although, I can't blame anyone for not realising it.
I posted at The Ark asking if anyone knew what tractor emitters looked like. Schtupp said, according to FJ, that they were crystals on the end of retractable stalks. Since I couldn't quite texture that I decided to put crystals on the points of a star, for symmetry. 6x tractors = 6 pointed star.

Dude your work on these models is showing me that a model doesnt need to be high in poly count to look great.... awsome stuff ;)

WOW!!!
Thats damn good graphic skills you have, Nice detail work
